i paid $25 for bt and above and beyond, a&b blew my mind, bt almost made me puke
last time i saw armin i paid about $60, it was rather meh
things turned out that i didnt pay for ton tb and i had a blast. even if i paid $20-$30, i would have still had a great time because the crowd, the vibe, the sound, the set up, the club were far far better than what a $100 armin show can offer at plush.
angelo is absolutely right. it's not about the DJ alone, it's also about the atmosphere, and frankly, i'm sick and tired of dealing with the pretentious crowd that has been attending armin, pvd and ferry shows for the last couple of years.
i'm glad i got to see those guys a few times before the barbie dolls and white gangsters heard about them, so that now i can go to smaller but way better parties, even if there are only 20-30 people there like there were for rank 1. |

ya know I'd rather attend a smaller venue slightly below capacity,
then a stadium full of idiots too ...
not so sure about just 20 people bouncing around though ..
would get boring .. I like meeting NEW people when I go out. |

Honestly, comparisons like these are kind of useless. Why not go further and make a point about seeing your local DJ's play trance for you for free or for regular $10 cover instead of paying 20-30 dollars for some headliner? There are so many factors as to why someone would go to event A over event B or vice versa.
My point here is money and price point isn't everything. I would have came out to this event if I was not working on Friday morning and if I didn't have obligations that Thursday night. I paid $45 for my ticket to Armin and though it costed more than double for 3 Drives, I still had plenty of fun at a trance event at Plush. Isn't that the original point of going out? If you want more people to show up to your events, try promoting even harder instead of being bitter at the success of other events. |

i wasn't being bitter about the success of armin show, i'm happy for twisted and i'm glad they bring big name DJs to the city, exposing the top 40 crowd to trance making trance more popular and hopefully more accepted
but those events are just not for me anymore because top 40 crowd is exactly why i tend to stay away from those parties
the way i see it, for angelo and people who agree with him, it's not all about the DJ, it's also about other people who are there with you that make it a memorable night |

Everyone does go to show for different reasons. As the picture may have pointed out, price, venue, DJ and sound doesn't matter if all you are looking for is to grope/ogle chicks/guys or to get plastered drunk or even just to start a fight.
But if you are a fan of a certain genre of music be it trance, techno, house, hip hop, you should always at least strive for best bang for your buck and that usually starts with supporting promoters who give a damn and have a passion for the scene and music.
That's why you're tranceaddicts, right? |
