George Acosta, Eddie G & Gerry Cueto @ Spirits, 12-29-06 review + pics

DarkAngel
Holy hell. It's 6:30 in the morning and I just home from Spirits NOW. :wtf: I have got quite a lot to cover, then I'ma eat then crash.

For last week's review of A State of Mind, CLICK HERE!

This week's installment of A State of Mind had George Acosta, Eddie G and FLTA's very own Gerry Cueto, with Kato K of Y100 opening (again).

Kato K did a slightly better opening set this time, but of course it didn't appeal to me. Especially when he played Proper Education before or after a song with the pitch bi-polarly altered. Lame. Onto Eddie G.

This was my first time ever hearing Eddie G play. Despite him telling me he couldn't bang it out too hard to open, he still did a GREAT opening set. He also played virtually all of them on vinyl, and for that I have to give props. Tracks included:

Tiësto - Dance 4 Life
Parker & Hanson - Let Me Be (Vocal Mix) <- GORGEOUS Vocal tune
Marco V - False Light (Original mix)

Except for one transition the rest of the set was flawless. Eddie did a great job getting the crowd warmed up for George Acosta who is next up in ze review.

Two weeks in a row, George Acosta delivers a massive, energetic set. Tracks included:

Sean Tyas - Lift (O'Kearney edit)
Randy Katana - Plastic Fantastic
Tiësto - Flight 643 (? mix)

Plus many more...

The crowd was going insane the whole time George was up there. Energy, crowd interaction, rhythm and flow....you name it, it was there. Awesome last set at Spirits for 2006 by George.

And finally came our very own Gerry Cueto. He came on with a massive, bangiing energy set, then went into a tag-team session with George and a friend of his, who happens to be a good DJ himself. Tracks from this session included:

Giuseppe Ottaviani - Through Your Eyes (Thomas Bronzwaer remix) <- VERY NICE
Insigma - Open Your Eyes (Sean Tyas remix)
Kai Nel - Beyond Doubt (Sean Tyas remix)
George Acosta - Apocaplyse (Gerry Cueto remix) <- NASTYYYYYYYYYY

After the tag team session, Gerry went on to end the night with some lower BPM (126 or so) stuff, but gave us a couple of nice ending tunes, one of which was Ridgewalkers featuring El - Find (Andy Moor remix).

This was one HELl of a way to spend the last Friday of the year 2006. With the way things are going at Spirits with George in place, I was thinking this could be the Shadow Lounge resurrected for the future....2007. I was speaking to George's agent Angel and he was also thinking the same thing. H4X!

The only thing to complain about tonight: the same thing as last week, multiplied by 2. This time we had TWO flower ladies in the club.

For sake!

Tonight was a damn good, but exhausting night. I wanna take this oppurtunity to thank Eddie G for the VIP and drinks, George for the drinks and for the chat and great times in the DJ booth, and was great meeting Angel, Francis, Eddie's agent and Gerry's parents as well. More highlights of the night include Manny doing his famous light show. He got quite the audience for that. Took plenty of pics tonight and 2 videos, which will all be posted later today. Decent TA turnout, I expect there will be a better one for Edgar, George and Gerry next Friday night at Spirits for the next installment of A State of Mind.

Review ends.
