SHORT VERSION: North > South, but regardless welcome to florida!
LONG VERSION: Welcome Alex. My family and I too made the long trip from I-95 all the way down to Florida. I remember my dad was driving a large moving truck and it took us 2 days to get here. We only stopped for bathroom breaks and didn't sleep over any motels. Looking back on things the north is way better than south to live in because in the north they have better schools, transportation, food, diversity, convenience, and an overall better standard of living.
When I came here as a child I was learning stuff that I already knew up north. The transportation here sucks because you have to wait years just to catch a bus. In New York city, a bus would come every 5 to 10 minutes or you'd just catch a cab or ride a train. The food there is amazing. You want italian pizza, that isn't a problem; New york style cheesecake, you name it! Hispanic food and the like. Now when it comes to diversity we have people of all kinds and you don't have to go far to get anywhere. Everything is right at your fingertips which brings me to my next point -convenience. Anyhow I plan to move back there when I graduate and am financially stable.
Don't get me wrong, the south, or in our case Florida has a large choice of beach and better weather. I mean it's December and I'm not freezing my butt off. The people here are hospitable and less aggressive than my new york counterparts. The pollution is siginificantly low. When I first popped that door open of our moving truck my first breathe of fresh air smelled of pine trees and rich st. augustine grass. I have never smelled so much fresh air in my life. Today I'm immune to the smell so I really can't tell the difference but it wasn't until later when I realized how bad the air was in Nyc.
Anyways I hope your experience here is a great one and may Florida give you opportunities you wouldn't otherwise find somewhere else.
Later bro! |
