Mother 3

Arbiter

Didn't see any threads about this game, maybe there aren't any fans of the series here. Anyone played it, or heard anything interesting about it (no spoilers please)? I've heard it's very good and a worthy follow up to Earthbound, but it isn't available in English yet and I don't want to try to play the Japanese. It doesn't look like Nintendo is planning on localizing it in the U.S. which is an absolute travesty after 11 years of waiting, but I'm sure there will be fan translations available online soon enough... although I'll probably still import a copy to support the series.

earthbound was a frickin great RPG. i loved the quirky storyline/jokes. i have played mother 3, it's pretty good but i can't understand it. it plays the same as earthbound as far as i know (i only played it for a little bit). you're right though, it's not coming out to the US though sadly.

Yeah EB was hilarious. I'd try to play it in Japanese, but you miss out on a lot of the jokes and crazy/random stuff if you can't read the text, which is a big part of what makes the game good.

very true. i kinda liked the rolling damage thing too. and the strange, satisfying music. the only thing that bothered me was having to call your parents occasionally. meh.

oh man earthbound, thats a game i completely forgot about. such an awesome rpg. one of my fond memories of it was the strategy guide that came with a bunch of scratch and sniff stickers lol. anyway, looks awesome because it stayed true to the original earthbound: http://www.gamespot.com/gba/rpg/mother3/index.html

quick (newbie) question: can you play gameboy advance games on the nintendo ds?

wasnt this puppy supposed to come out for the N64 like 10 years ago?

Earthbound is a classic, and US version of the follow up is very necessary.

Well there was nothing "soon" about it, but it's finally done.

Definitely worth checking out if you enjoyed Earthbound.
