Midi to joystick port

Im currently using a usb lead to connect my keyboard controller to my pc, but will have to use midi leads now I have bought a PhatBoy controller as well.
I have a Soundblaster live card, with joystick port, so want to know if this will be suitable to hook up my midi cables, or should I just buy a cheap midi / usb interface?
Do any of you use your joystick port to connect your equipment up to your PC?

| I did that with a soundblaster once and the latency was shocking. |

Im using Kx drivers at the moment have no latency at all, so hoping this will be the case with the joystick port - will just have to hook it up and see I suppose!
