mp3 quality! does this make a difference???

| hi, say ive downloaded a track thats 192kbps of less but then run it through soundforge or cubase but export it as 320kbps mp3, does that up the quailty of the track or once a tracks been reduced in quailty does it remain like that???? |

| Just think for a second. How would something that's been taken away magically reappear if you re-encode it? You'll most likely cut even more frequencies by doing that, resulting in even worse sound quality and much bigger file size. |

once it's reduced you can't gain it back with changing the Q tag...
it's basicly like taking an .mp3 and naming it .rar, it won't really be a rar file, but it will have the same icon. |

Look up the term GIGO.
Once you cut the quality those (lets just say parts) of the file are gone.
Lets say you have a cake and you need to put it in a box so you can take it to a party. You only have one box and its unfortunatly smaller than the cake so you have no choice but to cut some of the cake off so it fits (dont forget, you cut that bit off and throw it away!).
Now, just as your about to leave, your friend comes and has a bigger box for the cake. You can put the cake in their but since you have already cut and thrown away that piece its not going to come back just because it is in a bigger box.

| mp3 is lossy compression once its been compressed it cant be uncompressed to a better compression rate. |
