Actually, no, she wasn't !!!The US gives the most in actual dollars terms, but as a portion of GDP they are actually the worst of the wealthier countries
They are even worse than Australia:haha:

Let's face it anyway, how much of the poverty and misery in the world is in part due to Americas changing policies.
'

dont forget america has its own problems and its own poor to worry about. nothing states that any country owes any other some kind of support. be thankful that countries like the US exist because if other regimes were "in power" the 3rd world would receive far less.

I think on balance the US does far more damage than good in this world. Maybe if they paid their UN dues I might think a little more kindly of them.

It's currently popular to hate the americans, but theyre still one of the largest contributers to the UN and even when it's running at a huge budget blowout like it is now, no one else is chipping in.
Personally I dont know why they bother, they donate billions in foreign aid to countries that consistantly vote against them and to some degree, hate them as well.
All's said and done, theyre the only ones doing anything out there in an active military role, you might not agree where or why they are sent but no one else is doing it on such a scale.

Coming down to brass tacks, if say Indonesia got plunged into a violent conflict with it's neighbours to the north of us or in widespread civil war, who do you think would try to stop it?
Certainly not going to be the Australian armed forces, they hate Australians more than each other :D
The chinese? The russians?
And would you really want the chinese and russian armies running around up there?

God it's years since I've heard anyone use the "Save us from The yellow hordes to the North" line. :haha: :haha: :haha:

America will do what it always does, protect it's own interests! [I'm not saying there is anything wrong with that!] We've got heaps of natural resources!!Lots and lots of uranium!! Gee we might even get our own liberation force, oh wait, it's here and it's called John Howard!! :haha: :haha: :haha:
The sad thing is that at the moment a large number of americans are not happy with what their country is doing in the world but they are drowned out by the people who jump up everytime anyone says anything critical, with the "It's fashionable to hate America" line. Which is just a pathetic effort to justify little things like the invasion of Iraq.

I have enormous respect for the americans who not only aknowledge the problems of the world but actively try to right them. Bill and Melinda Gates are a great example.

Most of the world is just too busy just trying to survive to hate America.

I can't believe you actually gave them kudos for their "active military role" and scope thereof

Now if you want a fullon political debate here , I suggest we head off to the political forum and leave it until Monday because I'm having fun this weekend:D
