Denon DNS1000 vs CDJ 200

hiram
before i start i did search but it came back with no matches found. im going to buy a pair of CD decks next friday and was basically set on the CDJs but the denons have always been in the back of my mind. simply because it has all the features that the Pio has and a few more effects that the CDJ lacks. it also says it has a scratch mode. im not s ure if this means it has a vinyl mode. anyone tell me which is better? thanks

people will always say pioneer due to the .02 pitch...but i think the dns1000's are just as good. i have 2 of them and i can't complain. the one main difference is the scratch/vinyl mode of course, since the 200 only has that stutter mode. one nice feature about the s1000 is that it has the pitch blend buttons which come in handy when wanting to beatmatch relatively quickly. ive heard that manually inputting the bpm into the denon's will help the pitch once its matched since they will end up drifting, but ive heard that its just for the fx...which ever case it is, ive been using it and they haven't drifted and i have been able to keep 1+ minute transitions without making adjustments.

if i were you, i'd go test the two out. i personally find the cdj/stutter mode annoying and a pain...but the .02 pitch incriment is nice.

I really like Denons because of the pitch bend buttons.

Pitch bend buttons are the devil.

Test them both out (if you can) and make a decision based on your own experience.

I don't have either but I have the Vestax CDX-05 which is pretty similar - it has 0.1 pitch adjust and pitch bend buttons. To be honest, I kind of wish I'd got the 200s so I could have that 0.02 pitch adjustment - sometimes it seems like I just can't get two tunes matched up properly with .1 adjustment and I have to keep riding the pitch.

Pitch bend buttons can make it real easy to beatmatch faster but I feel like relying on them too much is going to come back and bite me in the ass later...I'd go with getting the Pioneers.

Then again I'm still learning so I could blame all this one my crappy mixing skills and not my CD player...:toothless

Yeah, me too! I loved the pitch bend functions on the Denon. I owned a couple Denon 1000's a couple years ago and had alot of fun with them, then I switched to Pioneers. It took a little getting use to cause like people said in this thread, you tend to rely on the pitch bend alot.

Um, if I had to choose, honestly, I really don't know. They are both great cd decks.

denon's for sure. all the pio's have going for them is a brand name and .02 pitch. deonon's have much more features: flange, echo, filter effects.. brake, reverse, etc.. a primitive scratch function, and with the pitch bend buttons, it makes the minor adjustments due to the .1 pitch easy to correct. and as for the durability, my denon's are built like tanks. the platter DOES feel cheap, because it's mainly a plastic cdr attached to a knob, but it's easy to replace them with new ones.

I've had all sorts of spill on the decks and have never had a problem with either of them. take good care of them (which i haven't necessarily..) and they should be fine. also, the denon's often have firmware updates.. there was one just released a couple months ago.
