Hey guys.

you probably have seen me around here with my numerous queries regarding production.

anyway.

i want to focus your attention on my project i have been setting up over the last few years.

Richard Gale Audio Design is my loudspeaker design and manufacture company.

we speciallise in hand made ceramic monitors that utilise a single cone (no tweeter). production is underway at present and photo's of the actual pieces will be on the site soon.

pop by www.richardgalemusic.co.uk and go to the 'ceramic speakers' section.

cheers rich:)

Hey Richard, I've seen those on myspace...they look hot!

I actually have been thinking for a while if it's really you behind them:)

hey booster:)

it pleases me that you like the look of the beasts...

the crazy thing is that they actually perform better than they look!

already PVD has shown an interest in the product. the first batch should be ready for just befire christmas i hope.

About how much will these monitors cost? They seem really interesting.

id like to know the price as well

pm'd.

as a guide - they are significantly more expensive than your average monitors. however i will be offering the first batch at near trade prices. so this should cut out the middle mans profit. once they hit the retail domain then my mail order service will follow the rrp prices. expect an rrp of around £1500 per pair once the retailer adds their profit and tax.

I'd like to listen to some tracks with a pair of thouse...never seen something like them...
forgive me for my ignorance but how will they give the sub bass and high of the vent hole and tweeter when they got none... ?

this is a query i have fought against many times.

if you imagine a normal bass driver cone as a heavy piece of cardboard. and a tweeter as a very thin and light piece of silk.

the reason most loudspeakers need a tweeter is because the 'heavy cone' of the woofer cannot move fast enough to create the high frequencies. due to the fact that our cone is so very light yet very rigid - and controlled by a very powerful motor assembly, it is able to reproduce the full frequency range from 40-20,000hz.

with regards to low end - you can expect a similar bass response from our unit as from most nearfield monitors that utilise a port in the design. the lack of port does not mean a lack of low end response - but allows for a cleaner port noiseless bass response. obviously if more bass response is required (than what you would expect from nearfield monitors) then one should consider a add on sub unit.

hope i cleared that up.

Whats the max power before you start changing the frequency response?

took a look and seems interesting. i guess the only thing i'm confused on is the size haha. are they really that small?
