Why you should hold off on an expen$ive next-gen system.

PATIENCE young grasshopper! Instead of blowing $500-600+ on a 360 or PS3 + $60 per game, Consider a PSTwii! (PS2 and Wii combo)

The good ole PS2 has THOUSANDS of terrific titles available at ridiculously cheap prices.

Following recommendations I found online, here is what I bought over the past week:

Silent Hill 4: The Room - Used 1 $15.29
Silent Hill 3 - Used 1 $25.49
Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal - Used 1 $12.74
Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando - Used 1 $10.19
ATV Off Road Fury 2 - Used 1 $4.24
Jak 3 - Used 1 $12.74
Ace Combat 4 - Used 1 $6.79
Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition Remix - Used 1 $15.29
Indigo Prophecy - Used 1 $15.29
Splashdown: Rides Gone Wild - Used 1 $6.79
Red Faction II - Used 1 $8.49
Fatal Frame 2 (used--Ebay) $25.98
Fatal Frame 3 --used (local gamestop) $25
XenoSaga Episode 1 --$8.99
Resident Evil 4 --used $15.49
God of War --used $15.49
Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution - Used 1 $5.94
SSX - Used 1 $3.39
Ridge Racer V - Used 1 $5.09
Prince of Persia: Sands of Time - Used 1 $11.04
Tomb Raider: Legend - Used 1 $21.24
Tekken 5 - Used 1 $15.29
Katamari Damacy - Used 1 $15.29
ICO - Used 1 $13.49
Shadow of the Colossus- Used 1 $13.49
Prince of Persia: Two Thrones - Used 1 $13.49
Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition - Used 1 $13.49
Burnout Revenge - Used 1 $13.49

Total = $349.04 + $4.50 shipping = $368.34!

Once you pay tax on your PS3 system alone, it is nearly $300 MORE than all of these great games!! Just look at that list again...DAMN!...so much bang for the buck.

Every one of those games is rated 8.5 or above on IGN...most of them 9.0 or above. These are HIGH QUALITY games! Considering the amount of fun you get for this price, vs paying $300.00 more with ZERO games, it makes holding off on a new console a no brainer...at least this for the next year or so.

Just relax folks...There are plenty of AAA quality titles available for the older systems at rock bottom prices. Load up your PS2 library and let the first round of the next gen battle unfold. Let the developers work the bugs out of the new systems, and let prices come down a bit. A year from now you will have a decent library of cheap next-gen games to choose from, a cheaper (and less buggy) system in your home, and a lot more cash in your pocket.

And if you REALLY must have a new system, consider pairing your PS2 with a Wii...because as we all know, it's cheap AND fun! (see video)

By the way...If you don't have a PS2 yet, the new SILVER slimline models are out...75% smaller than the original.

edit--just picked up a few more crazy deals for the PSTwii:

:tongue2

Wipeout Fusion - Used $4.24
Freekstyle (SSX with motorcycles!) $5.09
Clock Tower 3 - Used $8.49
Viewtiful Joe 2 -Used $6.79
Metroid Prime 2: Echoes - Used $12.74
Pikmin 2 - Used $14.30

Yeah I hear ya, but most people in the market for a PS3 have probably had, or have, a PS2 ,and have played those games a long time ago...
kid nyce
agreed^^

and just so you know, you can mod a ps2 and probably get all those games above for free, including previous console roms.

probably could be done for under $150.

not sure where you are from, but here in NYC, the whole modding thing is outrageous. My friends in chinatown are talking about the japanese version of a ps2 which has an 80gb hd, ethernet port, keyboard and mouse, and over 1,000 games loaded onto it. the news above is a bit outdated imho.

usually the gaming industry at a retail level, especially those asian ran places who are connected in asia get stuff 2months earlier than the states, thats all im sayin

Chinatown, in addition to NY style pizza are the only reasons I miss home.

The Xbox has serious value as well. Pick a used one up, mod it, slap a hard drive in as big as you like, and download any game to your hearts content.
