GO Transit Breakdown Leads To Commuter Warning
Monday October 30, 2006
In the great pantheon of commuter 'just what we didn't needed' complaints, this likely leads the list
GO Transit is reporting a major malfunction with CN signals at its Mimico Station - and that is causing a chain reaction disaster for travellers just in time for the afternoon rush home.
Officials aren't saying exactly what caused the problem or how long it will last. But it appears it could be awhile.
They're warning passengers to brace for significant delays on every single route expect the Milton line. And they're advising them to consider taking an alternative route home - like the T.T.C. or a cab.
The delay is expected to cause chaos at Union Station and other transfer points and leave commuters with the kind of chaos only the idling of public transit can create.
Buses aren't affected, although the extra traffic this delay may cause could delay them as well.
GO is attempting to keep passengers updated on its website. For the latest, refresh this page or click here.
And for the full story of how we coped with this traffic nightmare, watch CP24 all afternoon and CityNews at Six.

Delays of up to 15 minutes may still occur.
Updates to follow as information becomes available. |
