i'm simply pointing out that you guys are erroneous in your rapid attempt and gang-up to bash this guy's clever gimmick.

and i explain why.

so rob,

would you drink a brown acidic syrupy liquid that destroys your teeth and decays your enamel and stains your teeth and has absolutely no nutritional value whatsoever?

I believe a more apt analogy in this situation would be if Coca-Cola was criticizing the ingredients Pepsi used to make it's cola, then subsequently using those exact ingredients in its product.

and i've actually seen tons of promos out there that are named in that fashion. a promo is doing just that... it's being used to promote. DJs shouldn't get booked based on a funny mix name or by showing how clever they are with words.

I actually agree with you totally. Like any piece of art, a dj mix technically should speak for itself! You should not have to explain it or describe it, apart from giving an indication of what genre its in, just to help ppl decide whether they should listen to it.

And, this may contradict what I said earlier, lol. But this is totally how I feel. But, it's nice having a fun mix name and image does have a lot to do with how a product is received by the public. So, I can see why ppl try to dress up their mixes. I guess I'm rambling.

However I must also add, another reason to label something as a "promo" is that in doing so, you are saying it is not to be sold. That is pretty important actually (at least it used to be) because there could be legal ramifications, if you dig far enough into it. But with so many mixes out there in this day and age, I don't think that is as big a factor.

that wasn't an analogy and you totally missed the point. which was that with enough marketing muscle not only can you convince people to drink but you can also convince them to pay to drink it.

in the perfect world, yes all dj's should get booked purely on their talent, skill, blah blah blah. but it's not a perfect world.

which explains why inphinity charges for his promos.
