I had a good time at the show, despite the technical problems during Fei-Fei's set and despite Elena's absence.
It looked like one of the turntable channels wasn't working. And one of the monitors was pointed directly at the turntable with the working channel, causing the bass to rumble whenever she played vinyl. The DJ booth was vibrating quite a bit too, probably from one of the floor speakers on the right side which was putting out sound directly across the front of the DJ booth. There was some distortion that I could hear when I was near the speakers, but it wasn't noticeable by the DJ booth. Fei-Fei probably didn't notice it either with the earplugs she was wearing. |

aw, steve, you missed me!!
i was going to go, even told naz i will try to make it, but just ended up heading down to the caprice lounge for some drinks. i shall be there for matt darey tho :) |

Regarding the tech glitches at this show, yes, there were problems during the show. No, they were no fault of Fei-Fei's. For one thing, if you are in that DJ booth, you cannot hear anything else but the monitor, so it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that she didn't realize there were problems with the house sound, nor is it her responsibility. That club system has been a pain in the ass everytime I've been or played there.
Channel 2 on the mixer did not work either, hence only two cd players and one turntable could be used. This aside, the biggest problem was that the bassbins continuously cut out throughout the night. The problem: the circiuit breaker kept going off. Thompson just kept flicking it back on throughout the night.
Fei-Fei did a stellar job as she always does. Great Techno and Trance as only she does best. Always great seeing her in our city, its just too bad her visit was such a short one :( Oh, also Dennis and Jimmy did a great opening set as well and definitely started the evening off nicely. |
