VERY IMPORTANT SIMPLE UPDATE - VENUE CHANGE
Late last week Twisted received final word from the City of Richmond that they do not have enough policing resources available for our Simple 9 show scheduled for this coming Saturday, November 18th. This came as a shock to us as all paperwork, work permits and the necessary legal documents were received by and sent in for approval by the City of Richmond almost two months ago. As a result, we pursued all legal means at our disposal and even through our lawyers, took it all the way to the Mayor of Richmond who sympathized with our situation. But unfortunately without adequate available policing on that date, he stated that the show cannot happen at Riverside. We would like to emphasize the fact that we were NOT given enough LEGAL NOTICE according to Richmond's own rave by-laws, and we are deeply upset that the city broke it's own rules at our expense.
In hearing that, Twisted worked very hard to keep this “signature” show going and in working with the Maritime Labour Center, the City of Vancouver has graciously allowed us to move the entire show there on very short notice.
We know this isn’t everyone’s venue of choice (we share some of those concerns) – we were very much looking forward to once again throwing a show at Riverside (it’s been ages), but we thought that moving the show to this venue would be far better than cancelling things all together. We understand that some people have already purchased tickets with the understanding the show would be at Riverside and so we appreciate that to the few of you that want refunds, you can certainly obtain those from the point of purchase (Clubzone.com) included but note: this must be done BEFORE 9AM on the Saturday morning of the event (November 18th, 2006). – This is due to the now very limited capacity of Maritime and our need to plan ticket sales accordingly as this event WILL SELL OUT. We at Twisted would like to stress that despite facing major losses on moving the show, that we will not shy away from any expense in making this show as memorable as any Simple of the past, and are extremely excited to see two of the industry's giants, Lisa Lashes and Johan Gielen, perform in such an intimate venue. Be sure that this party will go off!!!
Thanks for your understanding and continued support.

ROBB G
Mornin all... Just an FYI that I will be re-scheduling Robb G for a more appropriate show and venue. With the Maritime being a smaller venue and the second room being considerably smaller over all, it's only appropriate to be both fair to Robb and also from a cost savings perspective.
This of course has been communicated with Robb and he's been very understanding over things. Azim and I want to thank him personally for that.
On the other hand, Male Model Machine is now the center of attention in that room and no doubt they will pack it out with there electro vibes.
I will also be extending the sets of most of not everyone else playing -- that way you get more wompy-womp from Amanda, more House from Funkmaster Hirshel and Hip Hop from Stimmy and Average.
Cheers. |

Nice party!! I luved it!! The MLC wasn't half as bad as I expected. So glad I went!! :)
Nice touch also when the lights come on at the end and can see the painted mural along the back wall behind the stage. :)
I took my roommate with me this time. His 1st time going to a rave in Van and hearing a hard trance set... I think he's addicted now ;)
We got in there late so was sweet.. extra sleep B4 rave is always goooood ;) Not too long after we got in Johan started spinnin and music and crowd atmosphere changed entirely. Got a record signed and from there on in till it ended the music was good. I seen Lisa play in Sydney B4 but was really surprised that she played a really good set here. Nice :). Some good uplifting hard trance tracks in there. Also was surprised that the local DJ after her had a good uplifting hard trance set too..
Good Stuff Twisted I really liked your rave!! What a fun night!
Some of the good tracks I remember were:
Johan:
Marcel Woods - Advanced
Three Drives - Greece 2000 [a new hard trance remix) (Maybe it was Binary Finary - 1998 ??)
Lisa:
Robert Miles - Children [a new hard trance remix]
Spoiled & Zigo - More & More [a new hard trance remix]
U2 - New Years Day [a new hard trance remix]
The venue was much smaller than the PNE for Dooms Night but I had no real compliants. (Only thing was the breaks room was a bit painful loud). The police were only a few in number (wich was enough to handle trouble I think) and were not all angry looking and intimitating like at Dooms Night. I think the crowd were mostly 18+. Most of the crowd were pretty friendly and good. It was awesome at the end how the last 40 or so ravers just packed in up the front of the stage dancing.. then after hung out, took photos together and just chatted and introduced themselves to everyone... NICE!! Nuthin better than a bunch of happy ravers to chat and hang out with.
Some cool people we met who drove all the way over from Kelowna to see Lisa Lashes!! ...and racked up $500 in speeding fines! (oh boy!) and plus hotel bills and all woulda cost a bit.. Whoa man you guys are some dedicated ravers... Nice one! It's good to see the scene here is far from dead!! :happy2:
Thank you so much to the ravers who gave me compliments on dancing or just came up and asked me to show them how to dance like that!! Wow... it really is a great feeling... I have been so self conscious and a bit embarrased about my dancing probably no more than a year ago. I am really happy and surprised to get compliments now... hehe it's funny... There are probably a lot of much better shufflers in Melbourne... but hey... I guess it's like they say... Everyone's equal on the dance floor :) and like you Canadian's say... GIVER! Yeah get up there and have fun.. that's what it's all about. :tongue2 |
