Ever heard of a little something called ethics?

I am not sure if the extra accounts ever pumped up sales for ************* or if they were strictly just to bump threads to give its website more prominence on the board. In any case, it was a marketing strategy that went against TA regulations but really is it an ethical question and are we really debating ethics in regards to business?

From a personal standpoint, I didn't have much problem with it. I don't think it swayed me either way about using their site or not. It affected some of you negatively but others would not find this being a problem. They still provide a proper service to all DJs out there and have signed up some great labels to distribute tracks. They are also local and have conducted themselves well in the realm of digital music sites.

I really don't think they would fake their stats for grant money. I am sure there are business standards they would have to adhere to for their proposal and that there is some scrutiny involved. Their mistake was only breaking TA rules and I don't think this crosses over into questioning their overall business practices.

It's also been a long time since this all went down. Let it go people. Give the site a visit or not; in the end, it's best to have some options out there.

I can safely say I am friends with Sean Gallagher who runs PIT and I am also confident in saying that I am not associated with the site other than browsing it occasionally. I also know that Tayfoon is not associated with them either. Just an objective take on all this.

1. Are there really any ethics in business? If there are, are there ethics for every type of business? New forms of business create new avenues of sales and services while creating their own problems. In my opinion, there are no ethics set up to contain internet business and advertising (pop-ups, trojans, forced advertisements) and even judicially nations and judicial systems struggle to deal with situations that would be illegal within the boundaries of a nation's borders. Challenging an online business for their ethics is challenging the entire ethical system for all online business because currently there is no real ethical system in place, no sense of honor and code (for what little exists within national judicial and ethical systems that barely contain real life non-internet businesses).

2. By continuing to discuss the issue in this thread, you're continuing to give them free marketing as this thread continuously gets bumped to the top.

3. They violated the rules of conduct for this website and were caught doing it by the administrators and justly dealt with in terms of those rules. What they do outside of this board, right or wrong, is up to them. How they are dealt with from place to place is strictly up to those in charge of those locations. Whining about it here won't solve anything to your pleasure except to perpetuate point #2.

4. I can appreciate what they are attempting to do to drum up support and attention for their website, and whether its negative or positive press, any free press is typically good press. If you want to bitch about companies that hire others to pump up their business through posting (or the owners themselves), bitch about everyone else that does it. There are some gaming companies that are notorious for this.

5. This post is not meant for debate, these are my opinions and I hope I won't be tempted to ever open this thread again.

i think they did a great job of marketing it since this argument has been going on for some time now, and has been brought to the attention of all the people on the site. I doubt they care if 1-10 of you guys dont buy their tracks, they are thinking big picture.

I have no relation to these people nor do i know who they are, buut they got the attention of the people on this site and i'm sure the people on this site would deviate from moral responsibility in the forums and buy a track if its cheap and available :).

anyways take care every1 :) markus schulz on the 17th ! oohyea!

All i view it as is Sean is providing a service to fellow TAs. Im not offended by any means.
If anything your resentment towards him makes me want to support him more because and what he did was harmless imo.

:haha:
What a joke. This is why i hear pepole saying TAs are up tight geeks.
