[OCT28] Dooms Night @ Pacific Coliseum - Halloween Massive

this is my first event with solid, so i don't really have an opinion of their work either way. That being said, i have seen the ticket prices and don't think they are that out of line with any other "concert" I have gone to. Hell, on a pound for pound basis()or hour to hour basis) I pay more to see a move in a theater. 10 hours of entertainment is a hell of a lot longer than most musical events and if it were any other world class acts(rock, country, celtic whatever) tickets would be in the 150-200 dollar range for a crappy chair you can't even dance in.

i bought my ticket (as I do for every show I play) first chance I got and paid my money because for me it isn't about the money it costs, the sketchy kids, the stupid politics. Its about going out hearing music I love and dancing all night. If someone can make a living bringing me that then so be it. if someone loves throwing those kind of shows, more power to them. The reality is you have to go for your own reasons. If your reasons aren't strong enough to back a ticket price, then don't go. But if you want to go and you really love the music, you love the chance to get away and do something a lil different from the rest of our grey dulldrum cookie cutter society and be a cookie of a lil different shape, what does a few extra bucks matter.

Just mho though.

100$ for any one-off rave is garbage. you can make an easy couple k off of a massive in vancouver with a few headliners with ticket prices being half that.

agreed, but, at a real concert you are getting live performance, live entertainment, a person is actually standing in front of you and dancing and singing. spinning records is not THAT difficult and does not require as much talent. i think the explosion of bedroom DJs is a pretty good indication of that.

if DJs were paid the same as rockstars for the work they do, we would be living in a very stupid world :)

with that said, the way i see it, you're paying for the talent you actually want to go see. so say i want to see 2 DJs, i consider whether i really am willing to pay say $50 for sean tyas
jussed
I'd happily pay $100 for a rave if it was open bar!
