alright so i work at a boat suplly store.
our last shipment brought in a few new items.
one of which was a waterproof mp3 player.
i had to try it.
the way my jet ski rides, its impossible to avoid getting wet.
while the one i dont ride, the gti, u can stay relativley dry if u want.
so i bought the damn thing and loaded some of my favorite trance tunes on it and headed to the st johns river.
now ive been jet skiing on the river plenty of times, though its not even close to my favorite ski spot, its the closest.
and i only had 2 hours to play.
so ive got great music in my ears, friday afternoon, and i have the entire st johns to myself.
i barely saw any other boats/skis out.
i rode south thru the industrial zones, passing huge ocean liners that make me look like an ant.
i fly underneath the matthews bridge, underneath fridays homebound rush hour traffic.
i fly back in thru potsburg creek for about 20 minutes, passing a kayaker.
on my way out the the river im riding between the bank and exchange island.
(its the spit of land island beneath the matthews bridge).
i notice a lady on a boat, with it off.
she is standing on the bow of her boat.
i finnally see what she was looking at.
about 6 or 7 dolphins, porposes(sp?) were feeding on bait fish around her.
i scooted up on idle and cut my engine to enjoy watching them.
now i see dolphins all the time out toward the ocean.
but i rarely see them this close to downtown.
so after about 10 minutes of drifting i started up and took off again, careful not to disturb her sight.
so i headed downtown where the river gets rougher do to westerly wind.
but im well experience on my machine so i weathered it well.
i decide not to go under the main street bridge because its no wake for like half a mile.
im i get bored.
i can get away with speeding thru no wake zones elsewhere, but not in front of docked jso vessels.
as a jax fire dept boat ran by, i turned aroudn and followed their wake for fun.
i got back to the matthews bridge, in between the bank and exchange island. its about the time my mom should be crossing the river.
every friday she and her friends leave work early and go to a jacksonville mexican restuarant.
so i stoped and called her.
i said "he, when your on the matthews bridge descent, after exchange island, look in the water to your right!"
so i turn the ski on and just start ing around.
its so nice, water in the area was glassy.
i saw all the traffic on the bridge, but i only heard my music.
i wish anyone who takes the time to read this could enjoy this feeling.
cruising on glassy water, sun down on you, open freeness for miles of water, no water traffic, and just great music.
i cant really describe it so what the .
anyway i get bored, hadnt seen mom yet.
so i just stick it on idle going in circle and try to stand up on my seat.
after 15 minutes of balance and a keen eye on the bridge, i see my mom waving to me.
i wave back and content ive done a good deed for her, i gas the bitch up and fly north until i see a tug boat pushing an ocean liner right in my path.
this too is rare.
the ship was perpendicular to the channel, so i was coming up on its broadside.
but im a little guy in a lot of river.
i just banked to its right to go around it while it got its angle correct.
i took the right bank, where jacksonville university is on the river.
they had sail boat lessons or some going on.
so i am running in between a huge commercial ship on my left and a dozen 2 person sail boats on my right.
lol man was the humbling.
i see the water churning behind the ship as im going over it.
ims o small compared to this thing i think the water would suck my richt up into its prop or something.
but nothing, im safe and too far away i just brezze by.
i saw a hand have to my on the deck somewhere and i returned on.
i kept going north listening to my music.
i went up into trout river for a few b4 heading back to my trailer.
got home, cleaned em up.
met my parents at the restaurant with my girlfriend, then went to a free country music show at the landing, which i was less than a 1/4 of a mile on water only a few hours before.
btw if u read this far ... your gay.
today im going where i take my skis every weekend, ft george.
for u jax people, its inland of the northside jetties.
now that im awake and free of this short narrative peice of , i can get rolling.
go jags!! |
