I know we have some 16 bit fans in here.. taken from their myspace bio:
myspace.com/16bitlolitas
| quote: | The 16 Bit Lolita's are Ariaan Olieroock & Peter Kriek. Both chess grandmasters with a rating that would place both of them in the top ten worldwide. It is rumored that Ariaan & Peter were called in by IBM just before the Deep Blue versus Kasparov fight because Deep Blue had broken down. So they took up the challenge of pretending to be a computer program and playing against the world champion chess at the same time. Of course we all know the result. It ended up being quite a big embarrasment for the world champion, whilst Peter and Aad were deliberately not even playing at their full strength not to break too much of the ego of the world champion. Needless to say their chessplaying ability is legendary already.
Three years ago they decided to start focussing on dance music, having already achieved everything in the world of chess. So they left the world of chess behind and started making dance music for the clubbing several. Now, 2006, the Lolita's have established themselves as dance grandmasters and are able to checkmate dance crowds all over the world with their music!

| I just got them added as a friend a couple weeks ago and read that too....lol. Their myspace page says they are doing a U.S. tour in October. If they do, I really hope Chicago's one of their dates! |

. yeah.
btw, their discogs artist page is pretty funny too...
| quote: | It was in 1955, in a small club in a desolate mountain village in the Jordanian hills, that totally nothing happened that was or is in any way relevant to this biography of the 16 Bit Lolita's. Therefore this whole introduction is actually totally nonsensical and should be ignored. Let's start over again….
The 16 Bit Lolita's are Ariaan Olieroock & Peter Kriek. Both with a firm background in religious choir music and country they decided in 2003 to try and do something new. After 10 Grammies for their latest album entitled: 'Lord we miss the groove!', they decided to reset their careers and started making dance music.
After moving from New York to Amsterdam , they instantly started working on a new 'dance' sound. In the beginning it was hard to remove all the country elements and that occasional 'Sanctus' that Peter always seemed to want to slip in. It was inevitable that a new way of thinking about music and about music production had to be developed.
But soon they got the hang of it and the quality of their dance music increased dramatically. The first few releases on Deep records and Extrema records featured such well known tracks like: (Lord) Take my life, (put your faith) Put it in (the Lord), Trading places (in the confession booth). It was clear that they had left their religious/country/choir careers and had fully entered the world of dance music !
A string of releases followed on such labels as: Yooshi, Alternative Route (to heaven), Release (yourself to the Lord) records, Sadie records, Plastic Fantastic, Nu Republic (of the Lord), Armada, Minimal records, DK records, LMR, showcasing an increasingly mature dance sound for the young and old!
In the meanwhile, in 2004, Aad & Peter also started bringing their music to clubs, doing a collaboration with Dutch DJ / Producer Stef Vrolijk. Throughout the year 2004 they performed as a live act in conjunction with the DJ-sets of Stef, playing at most of the big festivals and big gigs in Holland throughout the year.
As they enter 2006, the guys continue to tour extensively as DJ's and are currently working on a new live show. The promise of a new double CD original artist album displays the many sides to the 16 Bit Sound. One CD will boast many of their club anthems, while the second will show the guys experimental side. The album is due for release in the opening months of the new year followed by some high profile remixes and studio collaborations.
Seemingly, the world of dance music (just like the world of religious choir music / country before) is at their feet. Watch out for the 16 Bit Lolita's in a club near you! It will be a spiritual experience! |

| my biggest regret in life is the fact that on the first night i was in Miami for the WMC this year, i went to see Steve Porter instead of 16 Bit Lolitas at the friskyRadio party. |
