The fact that (and we all know) if that video IS broadcasted it will make its way onto the internet and be turned into Avatars/Popup Ads/Spam email.. There are so many sick s in the world who would get off to something like this!!

How would you like to die knowing your children and wife could be forever terrorized when they simply go online or just walk past a computer and this video is playing or being comicaly used as a avatar?

s me to tears

irwin was often quoted as saying "never stop filming, no matter what". who are you to tell the rest of us what we can and cant watch? media made irwin a legend so why should he be given some special treatment in death? i for one would be fascinated to see how thing went down. and i guarantee you irwin would feel the same way.

If he was so cool with the idea of the camera's seeing everything. Tell me why it is that hes family (The ones who knew him most) Are declining the idea of a state funeral?

His father said so himself "he was a normal bloke, thats how he would have wanted to go" .. I dont see any other normal blokes being recorded killed and broadcasted all over National tv. Where people can rip the video off, Toy with it and have it around for years to come viewable for the entire world and anyone who knows howto use a computer and the internet. Including his own family who is trying to deal with this crap as it is. Not to mention 8 yr old daughter.

And no matter how much you say "well, they shouldnt be letting 8 yr olds watch the news!" One way or another, If that video is broadcasted once. Thats all it will take for the world to have it.

do you know what a non sequitur is? dictionary.com

basically what youve said there means absolutely nothing. what his family wants has nothing to do with how he treated his job.

quote:

Steve had always ordered his crew to carry on filming even if he was mauled to death.

So the graphic footage showing Steve, 44, being speared to death off Australia's Great Barrier Reef is set for a sensational broadcast.
Queensland Police seized the tapes as the death sent shockwaves around the world.

But it is understood Steve's family have vowed to grant the real-life Crocodile Dundee his "dying wish".

Steve famously said: "My number one rule is to keep that camera rolling. Even if it's shaky or slightly out of focus, I don't give a rip!
source

now, could you tell me why he would want the cameras to keep rolling if NOT to broadcast his final moments in the very environment he made his living doing what he loved?

so what? thats emotive rubbish that means nothing. perhaps we should censor all media around the world because it contains images that some might find distressing  again, who are you to tell the rest of us what is acceptable? if his family chooses not to release it, thats their decision, which i respect. it certainly has absolutely nothing to do with you.

again, irrelevant. irwin was a tv celebrity and his death, like it or not, is news. he made a fortune from mainstream media and i dont think you have any right to tell the rest of the world what they do and do not have the right to access. take your moralistic emotive bull and go boss around a younger sibling or something.

ill quote occrider here coz he argues far better than i:

Offhand I would say showing his death would do far more with respect to accident analysis in preventing the mistakes of others that could possibly save lives other than it would be used as a tool for criticism that would offend his kids. Obviously this is Steve's and the family's decision however, it would appear that they have weighed in on the issue to some extent. I have to agree with pkcraistlin to a certain extent that Irwin did indulge in a tv personality that encouraged full disclosure. I think Irwin fully realised this which explains his very open wishes in hte event that he died. I don't think we should dictate standards that we supscribe to when we talk about what is best for him and his family.

again, its up to his family, not you.

That was my point. Newscasters are asking the world if we want to see it and its not upto us. It's upto his family.

Whatever man, Personal opinion. (which is what a forum is for)
