So I got a couple records today and one of them was Holden & Thompson - Nothing [Cookies N Cream]. And of course, it came in the black sleeve. Why do they do that sometimes? This isn't the first time I have ordered from them and not get the cover with the artwork on it.

I've gotten a few sleves with no art work, too, but I have to say that Dance Records has yet to let me down or screw up an order. I cringe to think about how much I've spent with them. I used to go back and look at my computer parts order history on New Egg. That was depressing, so I just quit looking. I'm sure it would be the same for Dance Records.

Haha, yeah so true. But you are right, as for as getting the right records and the delivery time, they are great. Actually, a lot of the times I will get my records a day early. So I can't complain there. The only gripe I have is the availability of tracks. They have so much that isn't in stock that I would think should be. Especially a lot of newer tracks.

That happens to me every now and then. But overall they are great and only take 2 days to get to me since I live a few hours south of them. I like them better than juno cause when they dont have something, you can request it but on juno, when they dont have it in stock, they take it off the site completely.

I've yet to get my request from them. :(

That's why I rarely ever buy from DanceRecords. Actually, I've found most of the newer stuff they have in, but anything more than a year or so old, they never seem to have. Sometimes you do get lucky though. They are indeed timely, however the constant out of stocks really kills it for me. Unfortunately, many vinyl web stores are like this more or less.

I noticed the sleeves too, but I can't say I care though since I don't store my records in their original packaging anyway. I much prefer to buy and use plain white sleeves/jackets that can be gotten separately from places that specialize in vinyl supplies. That way, my collection looks more organized and neater without the abused appearance of the originals... not to mention it I can't stand having price labels or writing on the covers.

+1 I've never had any problems with DanceRecords. Well there was one record I got that was a bit warped.. but thats one out of I dunno how many records I've ordered from there. And come to think of it, I might have inadvertantly warped it by the way it was sittin in my crate at the time but the jury is still out on that one.

As for the black sleeves, my guess is that the labels dont have the cash to spend on album art/fancy sleeves so they go with the cheap ones. Unless of course you're getting well known labels in black sleeves, in which case your guess is as good as mine.

On the topic of out-of-stocks... there's quite a few records I've requested from there. A good amount of them come back in stock, others I have yet to see back in stock. A few times I'll get the notification of them comin back in stock months after I requested it, just depends on the availability of the record I suppose.

When I had TTs and collected vinyl, this was the store I bought most of my vinyl records on. The one thing I did not like was the fact I had to wait so long for some records to either be released and or to have in stock. I used this store because it seemed like the least expensive. I could have recieved some records sooner on sites like "4DJsOnly.com" but with import costs...and the exchange rate, it would cost me a lot more money. Now Beatport is around so I never have to worry about tracks not being in stock, nor do I have to pay shipping costs or wait as long for tracks to be released...although it does seem like sites like AudioJelly or DJDownload get tracks before Beatport does...but it's usually only by a few days.

Dancerecords -> Cheap, nice & well packaged, fast shipment, limited stock.
Juno -> Expensive, nice & well packaged, really fast shipment, lots of stock at least when they dont have it, you wont see it
