well, since im not self-important enough to have a blog or a myspace account, im gonna use good ol TA for random rants instead of doing the work youre all paying taxes for. feel free to add your own diatribes, but if you feel the need to comment on anything ive written, think beforehand on what im saying. nobody wants you to look stupid. it might pay to use dictionary.com for words like irony or satire.
**dreams**
nothing says \'id rather have a colonoscopy\' than someone who starts a conversation with \'i had the weirdest dream last night...\'. for some reason they believe their non-sensical ramblings concerning their disturbed subconscious would be of interest to anybody. dreams that youre not a part of are like orgies- if you cant see em on video do you really give a ? not ing likely. dreams make no sense even to the dreamer, so why the are you forcing me to listen to a pointless story with no beginning middle or end, no plot or interesting characters beyond your dog that learned to talk? theres a reason john grisham or james patterson dont include sentences like \'and i was in this aeroplane, and for some reason the pope was there and before i knew it id turned into a purple monkey dishwasher\'. i had a dream last night about asking leonardo dicaprio whether he\'d seen the whole film \'man in the iron mask\' and did he get how it was. the only reason to tell that story would be to emphasise the re-telling is of no interest to anyone. off.
**console gamers**
they have no true understanding of what gaming means. would they know their DMA from their IRQ? i think not. they missed the glory days of gaming when you needed an IT qualification just to switch your PC on. creating boot disks and and freeing up xms or ems and squeezing every last bit of oomph outta your gaming rig so you could play a blocky text adventure. real games for real men. these days, if you know how to use a CD player youre pretty much set. they even miss out on the awesomeness that is the untested bug, the downloading of massive patches to fix that game that was released before it was ready, and the never-ending updates and cracks one must install. you should WANT to know why your video card conflicts with your new burning drivers and why a particular game must be booted in safe mode with no music or network support, why the system you didnt touch now doesnt work anymore, what a boot sector error is. theyre missing the sheer joy of spending an entire evening just getting a game to load. the console gamer- puts his disk/cartridge in and before you can say \'im a ing clueless \' theyre playing the game that their parents bought for them. is that really what gaming is about?

i consider myself a reasonable person most of the time. a bit arrogant sure, but we all have our faults. now, i dont walk into your work and tell you how to perform that triple bypass, what makes you think you have the solution to the middle east? i was with a friend not too long ago, when she started bitching about a particular problem in the world. now, as a reasonable man i know everyone has a right to an opinion. for instance i believe that pigtails should be a mandatory part of the school uniform. but i dont force that opinion on other people coz its just a personal belief, with very little to back it up from an empirical perspective. thus, if \'today tonight\' and \'a current affair\' form the basis of your world view then do us all a favour and shut the up. theres a reason youre sitting on the couch in your trackies after a long day of pot smoking, and it aint coz youve worked out how to ensure world peace. i might not be an authority on the topic but im basically god compared to naomi robson or ray martin so how bout you show some ing respect. i dont try to lecture you when youre going sales shopping for that nth pair of heels, so how bout you leave my field of expertise alone too?

you know what im talking about. those middle-aged ******s that learned humour in the 60s, when you couldnt say \'arse\' on tv. theyve tried to amalgamate new and improved methods of making you laugh but its not the material. theyre just not ing funny. so youre forced to wear this fake grin so you dont blurt out something about their abject stupidity and wasteful existance. i particularly love the (several) times a co-worker would refer to me as the \'new boy\' after i get a lunchtime haircut. oh the hilarity. how would you like it if i pretended you were mike tyson and punched you in the face? i dont call you bert newton coz youre fat and ugly and never change do i? im not the new boy and youre not billy ing connolly. now, back to your post youve held for the last 15 years. |

I agree about the dreams bit. As soon as I hear "I had the weirdest dream last night" I immediately turn off and every now and again chuckle so it seems like I'm listening. Generally I start thinking about getting in their pants if its a girl (ever notice how its mostly chicks who talk about dreams?)
