hey
im yet another aussie whos making the pilgramage to whistler for the snow season in 06/07. have lived in van before a few years ago (rode at mt seymour) but didnt get out much then. anyway plan on hitting up the city for some partying while im there.
was wondering what the rave seen is like over there? im into trance predominantly, but would go and see anything in the hardstyle/hardstyle through to techno/minimal genres. do you guys have raves in warehouses (ours got shut down a few years ago) and is the scene underground or commercial there? and how are the clubs... worth a look?
any reccomendations would be appreciated, esspecially would love to go to a more underground trance or techno event if they exist there...
ohh, and if anybody would like to reccomend me a cheap condo/apartment ($100-200 a week and within walking distance to lifts) to rent for the season (four of us) im sure you could find a couch to crash on whenever you needed it...
thanks |

very very commercial.
literally 0 underground events, except for some bush parties during the summer. I cant even recommend any clubs to you because clubnights pl;aying the genres you lke get shut down often. Check check the vancouver events thread in this forum and you should find something to do. |

With the exception of a few outdoor festival type shows this summer...
Raves in Vancouver have Cheesy line-ups, no alcohol, lots of undercover police/loser security, and lots of local DJs who should never be playing out. |

you guys are so negative
lets just say vancouver is going through a transition period right now :)
i see great things happening in this city in the not so distant future
im sure armin will make his way back into the city, and so will other trance DJs towards end of the year, and there will be others next year too. we may not have regular trance events happening at this time, but they will come, have faith!
if you dont mind prog, there are, i think, at least two good prog nights in vancouver, with good talent. we've got house, and now there's a new electro night. there may still be a harder trance night in richmond (about 30 minutes from vancouver), cant say much about this one tho.
so yea, if you're willing to dig and look around, im sure you can find a good compromise to big room trance and techno :) |
