Hey guys, I should probably post this in the production page but I figured I'd ask my people around Atlanta for their opinions. Does anyone here use Logic Pro for production? I currently use Reason 3 and Ableton Live for the stuff I produce, but Logic Pro seems even more bad ass than either of the programs I am currently using. In my opinon, Reason would be perfect if it weren't for 1.)The crappy sequencer, 2.)The fact that it doesn't run VST's, and 3.)I can't record live instruments/vocals/etc. I love the layout of Ableton and the crazy effects you can use when DJ'ing on the fly (either using just Ableton or using Ableton as a live effects processor for incoming audio from turntables/cds/whatever).
If any of you have experience with Logic Pro let me know what you think because I don't know if dropping $1000 on this program would be wise or not. Thanks!
P.S.- Also, if anyone is interested in spinning this weekend on EDM Sound System let me or AlokGT know. (This means you Scott Yee [hope I spelt it right]). |

If you have the money, then pro's the way to go, but if you don't, you'd be better to go with Logic LE. The only real difference is some of the plug in stuff... and $700 dollars in price.
I'm actually studying Logic right now for my industry certification with one of the authors of the official Apple textbook for Version 7 that prepares you to get certified.
Logic is a great program that's pretty complex but will allow you to function on a professional studio grade level as far as programming and sequencing goes.
PM me if you have any specific questions and I'll ask my instructor, that way you won't get steered wrong

| thanks for your help man. yea it looks like there will be a big learning curve with logic pro... like the "environment" or whatever, i don't even know where to start, but i hope to get ProCare so that the people at Apple can train me 1-hr a week for a year or whatever. i think i may get it... the drum machine on Logic Pro is just amazing. |

| Yea, I love it... It's just very thoughtful software that really lets you do pretty much everything you'd wanna do with a sequencer... I'm gonna certify in this and ProTools as well cause the two will make a total powerhouse combination... :) |

| I don't particularly dabble in the high end stuff but I use Acid 5.0 as my sequencer and record my virus onto there. Reason for drums mainly, but sometimes sampled FX and occasional synths. :D |
