of course!! it is a very nice aroma, lol.
serious tho I had no idea about the nearby food places, it makes a lot more sense now.. it was SO WEIRD at first tho!! I was already buzzed so that didn't help anything, lol. It's a pretty nice club, a lot different than any club in Chicago. I guess its because of the climate, there can be those "open" areas..
I was really surprised at how 'accessible' the main DJ booth was. I mean when I got there, I saw it, and I was like, this can't be the "main" booth. But it was - it was dimunitive, but I can see how DJ's would love playing there, because its almost on the same level as the crowd - I just think that is an ideal DJ setup. It reminded of me of when we saw PVD @ Transit in 03 or 02 was it - how accessible he was - I mean you could just reach over and shake his hand if you wanted to - autographs, pictures, the whole nine yards. Totally connects the crowd w/ the DJ and I think thats a good thing. Better than when you get to a club and the DJ is hovering like 40 feet above you... LOL! |

actually I think this is more a difference between Chicago clubs and other clubs, possibly a west coast thing. We used to have Spundae in Chicago - and the opener ALWAYS plays a slower more chill set. I don't think its a "Spundae" thing. I think it's an LA thing. :) Hey you won't hear any complaint from me, I love bangin' music. :)
btw sweetcandy girl posted a nice review over here. She said that Menno didn't play because he was DEPORTED!! because he had the wrong type of visa.. nuts!! SO I guess I didn't miss him, lol.
Also, she mentions Armin's crazy tour schedule!! check this out!
OC Thursday
Chicago Friday
LA Saturday
then Miami,
then San Fran!!! crazy!!

Yeah...I dunno...seems to be more DJ specific than anything else...if you ask a prog dj to open, chances are they will play the slower end of their spektrum, and if you ask a trance dj to open chances are they will play more progressive stuffs. Also...with a party like that...I think people are ready to start in dancing by 11pm, especially since the club is packed.
And about his tour schedule...lol...its called MAKING LOTS OF MONEY |

heh, what I mean is, they have him in CA, next night Miami, next night back in CA, next night Chicago, then back to CA... just doesn't seem like the most efficient booking ;) but who am I to judge. :) |
