One thing I noticed is PvD being very comfortable with Ableton Live. He was mixing in and out of tracks fairly seamless. For instance, he mixed into Confusion for 2 or 3 minutes before switching into another track.

ffs, that "mix into Confusion" wasn't a mix at all, it was all one track called Randy Katana - Play It Louder :p

His track selection was spotty because he tried to please the crowd too much with classic anthems: For An Angel, TooL, Nothing But You, etc. How can you go wrong if you play every anthem for 3 minutes each? Maybe he stole that one from Armin's playbook. I'm with Samira, his November set was much better. It was interesting to see the crowd PvD draws. A lot of people who don't normally goto Eleven50 came out. Lots of lookers. ;) It was great seeing everyone: Demoted, Samira, Shaista, Sydney, Bobby, Leslie, Maggie, Wayne shaking it.
Is this no glowstick rule only for PvD? I think that rule sucks tbh. Eleven50 has been renovating and trying to tailor to the sophiscated alcohol buying crowd. New floors, Eden changed with more VIP areas, less place for people looking to sit and relax. Eleven50 trying to go the way of Space? Bad idea. I hate Space. |
agreed. |

Well, I was actually approached twice about the lights I had. Once before he went on and once after I jumped on the podium for breathing room... both times the bouncers acted apologetic and said it was a request from the DJ.
... and now I feel sad that I was actually just too incapacitated in November to remember much at all, and you all say it was better :( |

November's set was way better than this one, especially since there was no foray into house pitched way insanely up. I still had a good time nonetheless last night :)
And :wtf: was with those creepy white headphones Paul had at the beginning there? It looked as though Apple started making like, iDJheadphones. He switched into the normal black headphones quickly I noticed, but to start off he was wearing the cheesiest white headphones I'd ever seen. |

Add Greece 2000 in his tracklist.
I was pretty happy about that but as zenperson told me via AIM, "it's such a shame that he can't dig a little deeper to find some classics to punch in there, other than nothing but you..i dunno why he loves that damn track cause it's not that good...only has a good bass line". -- quoted for truth.
There are a zillion tracks that PvD could have pulled out for his long time fans. Animacion, Empire, anything from Out There and Back, Love Stimulation, anything from his VDT remix album, not to mention all the tracks he use to hammer back in the day. Then I realized PvD wasn't spinning for me. He was spinning for the masses. He lost the crowd in the middle and he went back to a tried and tested sound, the classics, to revive the night. |

I THOUGHT I heard this! But I was like hmmm, can't really hear it too well, maybe I'm just hearing things since the bass was overwhelming. Nifty Ableton edit then. |
