Oh my god. I still can't believe last night. In all my (many) years of concert-going, this takes the cake for best experience ever. I had no idea we were going to be that close to her. She only came up to that sidestage we were right in front of twice, but still - the effects were long-standing and I'm still feeling em. I had an out-of-body experience. We were within arm's reach of Madonna, if she had held her hand out to us. We had good seats from the beginning - but when we got there the ushers informed us that the section in which our seats were was closed. We were like WTF. Good thing is, we got moved, and got better seats out of it. We were front row off to the right of the stage, right in front of the side-stage.
The first time she was walking up the side plank towards us, I had a feeling I've never felt before. I mean, this is as she is approching us. I don't know how to describe it exactly but I'll try my best - it was a mixture of disbelief, incredulity, elation, anxiety, panic, timelessness, confusion, and mesmerization, like, all at the same time. It felt like a nuclear bomb was heading my way. A good nuclear bomb, if that could ever exist. The moment she got the closest to us (see pic below), the bomb hit the ground. It felt like my eyes were doing that thing you see in the cartoons, the twirly lollipop looking type of thing,do you know what I mean? Delerium. I knew in the back of my head that she was actually SINGING TO US. I mean, she LOOKED RIGHT AT ME. But, during the whole time it was happening, time stood still. I have never felt such a sensation before. I felt like I met her, and she was singing to me. I know that sounds incredibly cheesy but you know what, I don't f'in care. The music faded away into the distance as all of this was happening. Later on, I could barely recall what song was even playing during this time. It was "Jump" incidentally, one of my fav current Madonna tracks. Lol. But this woman left me dumbstruck and incapacitated, unable to process any thoughts.
Even when I've met other famous people over the years - Depeche Mode, Moby, Megadeth - to name a few - that feeling was absent - I think it has something to do with the scale, i.e. Madonna is obviously one of the biggest artists of all-time. But, I think another basic difference is gender. More specifically, there is only so much excitement you can feel when you are meeting someone famous who has the same sexual orientation as you. I.e. someone who you are not "interested" in for anything other than the music they create. Yes, I'm saying that I'm interested in Madonna, lol. Depeche Mode is probably my favorite group of all time but I'm just not gonna be drooling when I meet em. Not that I was drooling when I saw Madonna either, but you get what I mean. :P Ok I seriously need to shadup now.
Here are the pictures - I didn't bring my camera because I thought they wouldn't let em in but I kinda wish I would have but I kinda don't mind it too much because we still got pictures because one of our friends brought a camera. Credit: Seneca took 90% of them, I took some, I think Diana might have taken some others.
