(VIC) Places to go?

CD-ROMper
Hi,

I want to help a freind of mine out. She says she is into trance, but she has never been to a trance club (except for two tribes). I know nothing about any of this, so i was hoping you guys might be able to help me out. I'm not into trance and techno so much, but i love learning new things!

Well, i've done a bit of research on this, like reading through the trance wiki and i have listend to a few songs from this list. But i'd also like to know where some good clubs are in melbourne. I had a look through previous posts, but i couldn't really find anything. I'm looking for somewhere that plays mostly trance/prog-trance.

I was tempted to ask you guys if you have any recomended listenings, but if this forum is like any other, you'll have a million of those threads already. But, you know, if you want to maybe suggest something, i'm totally ok with that!

Thanks.

in regards to prog trance and melodic/epic type trance, there arent really any clubs out there that have regular or weekly events.... which is a damn shame because its the best trance music out there

these events tend to be random and at different locations

check inthemix.com.au

there is Majik entertainment however that holds weekly gigs, but that tends to be Harder trance, not bad imo, but the crowd can kind of let it down... muzzafied rambo action some times, and the girls can be just as bad as the guys... i dont care as long as everyones having fun and theres no bad vibes

if you want to try out the harder kind of trance theres a few places along commercial rd and chapel st.

theres a few hardstyle clubs out there also, but thats if your into wearing phaties and candy necklaces

I would say if the interest came from the main arena of trance at Two Tribes you want-

Interview monthly at Tilt - basically prog/trance/house over two levels so it suits *everyone* ie there's some commercial stuff everyone knows that gets spun

Obsession monthly at Room - uplifting trance in the main room and progressive in the side (which seems to be getting more minimal)

Though like others have said there isn't too much happening anymore. Quality trance is getting neglected these days.

Bass Station/Hard Kandy/3D/Tuned/Revolution I think are all hard trance/dance and it most def isn't everyone's thing. Very hard music, lots of drugs.

I'd also say note the release date of the '100 greatest trance tracks' as the trance sound has definitely changed quite a bit from that sound and you won't necessarily find it out (hey I don't, JulesPLees was pretty farkin close at the last Obsession though!) It can get a lot more 'uplifting' these days.

I wouldnt call those clubs hard trance, just like with uplifting trance, there is no real club in Vic that plays proper quality hard trance. I have yet to go to Revolution & doubt they play the VERY HARD music that you think is hard.

LOL@ very hard music, lots of drugs.

Yeh like no one at Obsession or Inteview takes anything.

lol those clubs do play hard trance. what do they play there if it isnt hard trance? just cos u dont think it isnt hard, it is still considered hard by most people and it is DEFINATELY hard trance.
if u think what proteus plays is hard trance then somethings wrong. theres absolutely no trance component to what he plays at all.
