Since nobody from TA but me went, I feel it is my duty to report on the event.
Gripe #1. I had to wait in line at some ticket kiosk for will call tickets for 1 1/2 hours.
Gripe #2. I didn't get into Plush until 11:30.
Gripe #3. Benny played for only 1 1/2 hours and came on at 12:30
Gripe #4. Benny only played 2 of his songs and I'm sure everyone can guess which ones they were, this to me was a huge let down because if any of you have heard his CD's knows that he has way better songs then Satisfaction and Who's your daddy.
Gripe #5. Plush pulled the plug early again just like they tried to do at PVD but unlike PVD when he told them he still hadn't finished his set Benny didn't even care to squeeze a few more tracks in.
now for the Positives
Positive #1. Not sold out so there was just enough space to groove to.
Positive #2. Hot Hot girls, Benny seems to really attract the best girls.
Positive #3. Crazy vibe, met some really cool ppl and got invited to Burnanby for an all night rager! Twisted really made the night feel like a P-A-R-T-Y!
Overall I'm glad I made the trip over but for once it wasn't the Dj who made the night memorable. |

The show ended at almost twenty after two and was supposed to end at two sharp as per their license, so he did infact 'squeeze in some extra tracks'. By the time the club was actually cleared out it was 2:30, he took the time to pose for pictures, wave an Italian flag around and sign autographs for fans. Benny may not have played a ton of his own productions, but what DJ wants to hear their own stuff over and over? I for one thought it was refreshing to hear something different from the man. The electro elements of his set on Friday were really great and a nice change of pace from the typical Benassi basslines we've come to expect in his sets.
Moreover he was a pleasure to be around and had a total lack of ego, a nice change of pace from some DJs who come through Vancouver. The best part of the night was eating ice cream cake. Definitely a great birthday party for all of our friends celebrating it this weekend. |
