crappy mp3's

d_sub
what's up with the songs on tranceaddict lately? "beams of gaia", as well as "godd" and "be with me" have totally screwed up beginnings. either they click or have the beginning cut off. i also found some errors in mp3 files - "club quake", "autumn tactics", PvD hr xxl (part 2) ... sometimes i'm even forced to decode and reencode some mp3's to fix the errors. oh, lest you not forget the dumonde song which sounds like it was encoded with crappy xing @ 128 kbps and not FhG @ 192 ... a small note to the people who sample from vinyl (i doubt anyone is reading, but hey...) - please, leave at least half a second of silence at the beginning because encoders do strange and ugly stuff. and check your audio gear because there are many songs that have that nasty hum because of poor grounding (or ground loops).

honestly, does anyone actually listen to the songs before putting them online? i'm very, very dissapointed.

I think that is a bit harsh, anyway this was really more of a case of sending your complaint straight to swamper, using the feedback system

If you think you can do better then rip them yourself and upload them to me.

Otherwise don't download them.

sorry, i didn't mean to be rude. it's just that i find it dissapointing to discover clicks and skips at the end of a great song (as all on this site are), and i've just spent two hours downloading it on my poor 56k modem... it's not fun. kudos to the entire TA team for keeping the site up, but i really think it would help a lot if someone could prelisten the songs before posting them and say "the sound quality is blah-blah-blah, there is a slight sync error at 6:17, there is a click at the beginning" ... naah, i overdid it yet again. sorry.

that would be nice, yes - i download every single from the site, which has a very negative effect on my phone bill :)

how, then? i admit my reaction was a bit inappropriate (suits me right, never write e-mails or post to forums and newsgroups when you're angry) ...

i've got soap on a rope, i think i'm safe even in that scenario ;)

btw, does TA accept only new songs and vinyl rips? i've got some good ol' goa trance which i wouldn't mind sharing - then again, i've never seen a goa song on TA, so i don't know if people would like it :)

When you find clicks and strange sounds in a song (which I haven`t had in a long time and especially not here) there is a method of "repairing" them.

Search for a programm called "uncook", run the mp3 through this programm and the mp3s will be repaired. Search on the net for it, works like a charme. I have an old version of it (uncook 95), so I don`t know if it runs under Win2000 or XP but if you don`t find it on the net I could send it to you.

Just pm.

Cheers
