Someday us non-smokers will prevail! :)

Hey Steve. Well my friend, in some places they already have. For those who don't know, in California it's now three full years since smoking was banned in ALL restaurant, bars, and clubs. It's awesome there, you can actually breathe and see when you're dancing! Why in the world can we not have the same policy here? No offence to smokers whatsoever, but if no smoking policies have been in place for most other workplaces, why not for this one?
By the way,Vivid sounds cool. Gimme a shout next time you gonna head that way, I may join you and check it out. Same goes for you liquidchick (and by the way welcome, don't recall seeing a post from you before).

i wish more places in toronto would adopt not only the smoking part, but more importantly the CHILL part....
i've always longed for places with couches, candles, ambient or downtempo tunes - places like that in t.o. always get quickly swamped by college st. twenty somethings, and the vibe becomes 'be seen' instead of just have a beer and chill...
and i meant no disrespect to system, i meant it more in a very general way - as in, the weekend options in toronto have become more habit than innovation |
True dat!
I'm with you on that one 100%... |

Just wanted to answer a few questions...
Renaissance is a collaboration of elements of Destiny and Lifeforce - not just one or the other. We decided a more mature and sophisticated approach to throwing events was needed in this city and Renaissance is out first big splash into this genre. This does not mean the end to Destiny or Lifeforce events in the future - we just wanted to create a choice for people and try to inject some fresh life into the scene!
We understand its a few bucks higher than your standard massive at the CNE or something like that, but its an issue of the venue costs - Roy Thomson Hall is basically the Carnegie Hall of Canada, not some big square warehouse or club - this is where the BIGGEST names in the clasical diciplines come to perform when they play in Toronto as it is like the finest accoustically designed room in Canada. While this will create an amazing event, it also comes at a steep price for us. Even with sponsorship it is unlikely that the event will be profitable - but it will be fun! Come check us out - we know you will be glad you did - its gonna be a gret show and is exactly what this city needs!
One minor housekeeping not - OLA is not selling tickets for any events anymore including this one, so please don't head down there for your Renaissance tickets. Also, we have added Tripp at the Fairview Mall as an additional outlet.

Guess the only thing I'm worried about is where does the dancing happen.. I've never been to RTH, but aint in an auditorium, with more room to sit than to dance, or do you guys expect people to dance on and between chairs and such...
About the ticket price, at first clance its a bit steep for people used to going to clubs evrey weekend, but quite honnestly, its a good price
I guess the people that can bitch are students who cant afford it.. (Like HONNESTLY, you should really have student discounts !!), because there's a LOT of people on OSAP, going to school fulltime, and such who dont make money like they used to when they were in high school and , so are supporting the scene less. (yours truely, who'll be broke at least for the next 2 years, and more if I continue to grad school)
.. my rant =0

Hahahaha!
Good one, sylphin... cuz I can recognize myself in that comment!
I am definitely broke already, and the only events I am checking out in the next couple of months are those cheap ones... cuz $40 just doesn't come that easily to full time Univ. students on OSAP, like myself... |
