The performers and special guests:

Mike Gibbs As a member of the bands Dogpile, DHI and Tranceformantra, Mike’s credits go back to the early industrial days playing gigs alongside the likes of Ministry, Killing Joke and Meat Beat Manifesto. In the mid 1990s Mike turned to performing live music for the newly emerging electronic music scene. He played to crowds of 1000s of people alongside djs and producers such as Stacey Pullen and Alex Patterson of the Orb at Trancendance parties. Mike's releases gained critical acclaim and regular play by Carl Cox, Derrick May and Josh Wink. He has recently been making trips to Asia playing club Ageha in Tokyo Japan with Paul Van Dyke and appearing at Ministry Of Sound in Taipei. Expect to hear a blend of deep German techno with melodic basslines somewhat in the vein of Steve Bug.

Samba Elegua - live 34 piece Samba group This local live drumming group is banging in the midnight hour for us. They are super performers and we have all become good friends over the years. Samba Elegua love playing for our crowds and we love having them. This event sees their last performance as Itay, the band’s leader, is moving abroad to study so they will be giving us an awesome final farewell.

Yoshi and Chie - live sitar, digeridoo and loops Having recently returned from Japan, Yoshi and Chie are those special types of musicians that get better every time we hear them. They’re true global community performers. Their music is breakbeat infused sounds of live sitar, digeridoo and electronics effects. We get butterflies when hearing that first chord of the sitar after Yoshi gets it out of the case. They will play at midnight.

Angola of Phenomenatrix Productions will be performing an aerial acrobatic silks dance during Yoshi and Chie’s set at midnight. Angola has been a long time friend of ours and organized the Capoeira troup’s visit to our House of Props party in 2003. It’s great to see her mastering new movement arts and the silks are our favourite, it’s a beautiful performance.

Eric Downer and Lee Osborne Eric and Lee are likely Toronto’s most precise and prodigious dj talents - two of the best we’ve heard - Eric with his indescribably smooth techno selection and Lee with his natural enthusiasm and gutsy techhouse mixing.

Chocolate Lauren lives her whole life in music and has lovingly collected dub record collection that fills a whole room. She is the definitive dub and reggae dj, complete with strawberry blonde dreads and gorgeous smile.

LeeLee Mishi Leanne plays some of our hands down favourite house music, the best blend of smooth San Francisco and deep Chicago house.

Owen Owen plays this beautiful style of dubby world music that we are always looking for yet so few djs play. Keep your eye out for Owen, he is one of our favourite up and comers and we are very proud to have him with us.

Violet and Gabor These two have recently been two of our favourite dub, triphop and drum and bass djs. Violet and Gabor have been collaborating behind our backs and are playing their first set together for us all this new years eve.

Aia James plays super intelligent precise downtempo and we really like what he’s doing. One of his cds virtually became the soundtrack to us setting up of the Harvest festival, it was so perfect.

Ian Guthrie Ian has dedicated much of the last ten years of his life to music through djing and his Fukhouse events. This love shows beautifully through in his funky driving dance floor sets.

Visuals by blankfoto Blaine is a visual artist who is a community builder in a special way. He’s dedicated his life to compelling images and loves to share in the fun of collaborating on parties. He thirves not just on the image but the way it’s packaged, helping reshape the room so images become integral, but not overwhelming, element of the environment. Having recently returned from a week checking art and installations in NYC, Blaine’ll be bringing that inspiration with him.

This New Years Eve we’ll once again collaborate on a mid-sized downtown celebration that brings us together, keeps us grounded and works toward avoiding the crazy hype of a typical new years eve.

All year we search for djs who are the best at what they do and many of them have become our close friends. We also hunt for the best new space. Each year we like to take the spot we find and transform it into something special for just this one night. Our space this year is a multi room warehouse converted dance studio with awesome tall ceilings and sprung dance floor that feels great to boogie on. It’s spacious, convenient and no one’s ever thrown a party there before.

We were recently fortunate to acquire a sound system of our favorite Rankus Hinze audio equipment, and we inaugurate it in our breakbeat/downtempo/world beat room for lovely clean and deep sound all over.

We’ve had a busy year hosting sweet parties like Harvest, Kajama sailing cruises, Boreal camping adventures and Sunday afternoons down at Cherry Beach. We’ve enjoyed bringing people healthy, creative, energy filled outdoor experiences. Now we look forward to this mid winter cozy indoor celebration.

Happy holidays, see you on the 31st.

so only the music at this party is quality... does that mean that the music at all other events is crap then?

I think you should read the statement again.

They claim to have the best party, not the best music. I do happen to know these guys throw good parties and have been doing so for years.
