Extrema was very good, weather was perfect, had an awesome summer time vibe with 7 huge stages and fantastic day-time music:
Highly recommended. It was held on July 16th this year, the corresponding Saturday next year is 15th July.
Dance Valley would have been just as good if it weren't for the weather on the Friday which was terrible and left you wading through mud everywhere. On the Saturday weather was better, sun came out in the afternoon, and you got a feeling for how good it really would be if the sun was out the whole time.
Sensation was good but not something I feel like doing again. Same for Global Gathering, great atmosphere but just don't feel like doing it again. Perhaps I'm getting too old for the night-time activities at the grand age of 20...
Ibiza is a top priority and this time spending at least a fortnight there. Spend time discovering the newer/smaller clubs and more secluded beaches (there are over 200!).
One other festival I didn't get around to getting to this year but will try and make an effort to next year is Ten Days Off at Ghent in Belgium (10 nights straight of music). It has a sister festival called Five Days Off in Amsterdam but the original is meant to be the best although they have similar acts. Some of the best in underground music across Europe and internationally play there, see the line-up for yourself.
Also re LoveParade/LFA/whatever: this year's Love From Above was held on 8th of July, that's the day before the date of the grand final of the World Cup held right in Berlin as well. If LFA is held on a Friday again, then correspondingly it should be held on the 7th of July, two days before the final! Although I have a feeling they may shift it back one week to the 14th so everyone saves on accomodation costs, etc. Still gonna try my hardest to make it, seeing as I'll be staying just a little way up in Copenhagen...
Sunrise Festival in Poland is meant to also be fairly good, reportedly, attracting some decent names across Europe. |
