The best dang set you ever heard out.

Light The Fuse
Tell me.
Light The Fuse
oh yeah heres mine :toothless:

4 years or so ago i saw Christopher Lawrence PLay a 3 hour set at godskitchen at the goods shed (rip).

it was a closing set after dave clarke. these were the days he was hook boy - PLaying all the transa/mark lowndes stuff.

he played the most amazing progressive/tech trance set that i think i will ever hear. ever.
it was the total journey set - hard prog house, good uPLifting stuff and some of the most amazing sleek driving tech trance - he went everywhere that nite eye tell joo.

when dave clarke finished he was cruising on about 142bpm - lawrence kept up the pace, and gradually brought it back - by the end of his set he was probably going at about 135bpm - the space between each beat felt like an eternity - an eternity that you hoped would never end. - it didnt make sense - i thought it had to be bashing towards the end for peoPLe to hang around. but no its not that - what u need is a good dj to be PLaying for peoPLe to hang around.

he did 4 encores and the still full shed (at 7am) was screaming for more.

this is when i decided to buy turntables.

Danny Howells @ Room in 2003, closely followed by Hernan Catteneo @ Room in 2004. Both played an amazingly great variety of music and kept in up for several hours.

That night with Hernan was amazing and he gave us the extra hour for daylight saving!! Definitely my best night ever. :D :D :D

Shame he ended up at Qbar this year.

I'll preface this by saying that I don't have an illustious clubbing career like most of you guys, mine only started towards the start of '04, anyway for what it's worth:

Eddie Halliwell @ GK Global Gathering '05.

I don't really like hard trance / techno, in fact I play mainly disco house and prog house these days. But this set was just mentalz...
Coming on after PvD had just delivered a superb set, the crowd just went up 10 notches chanting "Eddie, Eddie, Eddie,..." (they love their Eddie over there). Flames from these massive steel tubes started shooting up behind him while he f*cked around with Picotto's Lizard (Claxixx Mix) just like Oakey had played at Lotherton Hall in '99...then that awesome breakdown came at the end of close to 15 minutes of build-up...OMFG.

He was the showman that night, he kept on turning the music down and cupped his ears and the huge crowd in the GK Arena obliged by screaming "Eddie,..." even louder. If anyone else would have done it, it would have been called egotistical but no so for Halliwell. Simply amazing stage presence for a not-so-big guy. Just has to be seen to be believed. And OMGZ teh lazerz!!111~
There's a pretty decent vid of it on the net, worth tracking down...

A pity Judge Jules had to play some absolute e to finish off after him...

Saw Halliwell a week later at Dance Valley but he was nowhere near his previous form at GKGG.

But probably this year the two sets which have influenced what I play would definitely have been Dave Seaman's set at Sydney Two Tribes. Insane. Had about 20 people in the room at the start of the set then the crowd kept building until he had the room packed (at least 500 people) and everybody absolutely nuts by the end. Got me off (old progressive) trance and into prog house for good. The other set would have been from a dj called Matt Caseli who plays in the side-room called "El Cielo / The Funky Room" at Pacha in Ibiza. Erick Morillo was playing in the main room but there was no way in the world I was leaving this dude. I discovered exactly what real funk and soul were about that night. While Sanchez/Morillo keep playing that really average brand of house for the masses, Caseli is the real deal.

Other great sets this year I've seen:
Mark Farina @ The Basement
Mischa Daniels, PvD @ Dance Valley
Remy, Ritchie Hawtin, Howells @ Extrema Festival
Digweed, PvD @ GKGG
Dimitri from Paris @ Respect is Burning, Paris
eRRaTiK
Zabiela - Field Day 2005.

Dave Seaman @ Space Sydney, 2003
Marco V @ Godskitchen Sydney, 2003
Armin 5Hrs @ Sublime, 2004
Sander K @ Sensation White Amsterdam, 2004

also highly rated.
