I think this kid's intention was pretty clearly to make a public declaration of his suicide. He wanted people to talk about it, to talk about how great his life was, to talk about how much of a bitch the girl who rejected him is. He wanted everyone who saw it to feel sorry for him.

Well guess what. No one cares. You're seventeen and you think you've reached the pinnacle of love? You're so broken by this girl that you're going to forsake your future and drive your family to grief? I don't necessairly advocate suicide, though I dont mind if people in extreme circumstances (terminal illness, mental disease, poverty) do it, but this kid was from Mission Viejo, California, a suburb in Orange county where 76% of the inhabitants are white, the uneployment rate is 2%, and about 70% of people own, not rent. He had no reason to comit suicide other than the fact that he was so absorbed by himself and his idea of the subculture that MTV told him he belonged to.

By publically stating his suicide on the internet, he subjects himself to scrutinization of his actions, and the facts only show what a selfish brat he was. I feel for his family & friends, but only because they invested their time and emotions in an individual that clearly cared for nothing more than he cared for himself.

It's funny for the same reason people find Jackass funny: You can only watch and say, what a dumbass...
