or Kinetic bomb. It's a mass that is put in orbit and, when needed, fires a de-orbit burn to ballistically fall towards its target. Amount of energy released on target depends on initial altitude, excentricity of and position on the orbit at that given time and mass.
I'm just making this up.
So how long before we'll start seeing such attacks on places where there's no military in the wide area, striking so fast after the target is lokalised and the go-ahead given.

| This seems crazy. It would take a very big amount of energy to bring something very heavy into orbit. (Very heavy = big enough not to burn up during descent and still be so big on impact that it can cause some real damage. |

Well, as long as it makes an impact, even a small pebble can make a big hole. Such a weapon could theoretically make lots of damage without any real countermeasures, but whether it will also work in practice is still an open question. |
