FIFA world cup 2006.
well, i tried to buy the one all the TA boys are playing, but i ended up with this version instead.
i havent played a PC soccer game since actua soccer back in 1994 or something, so it probably doesnt take me much to be impressed with how far theyve come. but wow, this game is great.
the atmosphere is insane, with the english fans singing their theme songs in the background, as well as differing crowd reactions if its a home or away game. the goal celebrations are great.
gameplay proves to be largely successful, it really feels like youre playing a proper game. controls can be a pain sometimes, with players tapping the ball forward to the opposing team instead of passing it out wide to the guy you were trying to. but thats down to practice i guess. the keepers are also fvcking lazy and can stand there ball watching too much. still, theyre minor concerns.
theres a real sense of achievement when you bang one into the net, tho the whole shooting technique takes quite a bit to get used to. not a lot of personal control over the shot, it depends on the game conditions rather than just holding the button for power.
all 120 odd teams make the cut, and there are tons of customisable options. unfortunately as a port, lots of this stuff has to be unlocked  if i wanted gay unlockable options id buy a fvcking console. also, the menu screens are console-like and fvcking stupid (think NFS underground kind of stupid). i dont know why they cant spend 10 minutes making a more user friendly PC menu system.
otherwise, a real treat for any soccer fan and loads of fun to play, if not exactly perfect.
