There are certain weapons in the game that can be "mastered" and therefore each weapon CAN be just as effective as the other... The trick with UT is to know WHEN to use each weapon... Most noobs who play online run around using one weapon all the time... each weapon has its purpose.
The more "fun" weapons for the better players... are the guns which take more "skill" to use... Sniper / Shock |
He's right, plus weapons that are seemingly useless to anyone but spamming noobs can be very good for tactical reasons on different maps, there's actually a great kill with the goo gun on our demo.
Plus in a clan war with two very experienced teams one of the major strategies is for a team to lock down certain parts of the map that contain powerful weapons and powerups; this requires a certain player to patrol the area, picking up the powerful weapons the moment they spawn, this means if a player on another team spawns in an area your clan has successfuly locked down, he will be easy prey because you've cleaned out all the weapons (and if a team member spawns in an area you've locked down, you can throw him one of your weapons)
The enemy who has spawned in your area has very few options if its been locked down, he can either try and make a desperate dash to another part of the map that isn't locked down or where team mates are located, or hide in a dark place until a weapon respawn (every 33 seconds) but all good players will know the exact spawn times of the weapons, and will probably patrol the area five second before the weapon respawns to prevent him from getting that weapon
All the top players in UT will calculate the exact time it takes for a weapon or powerup to respawn, whenever i take (or see the enemy take) the Shield Belt or Damage Amp i'll alert everyone on my team with a binded message, which means they have to calculate the exact time when it will respawn to not let it fall into the enemies clan (if the belt is taken at 12:34 remaining on the clock, it will respawn at 11:39 which is 55 seconds later)
one clan can never control an entire map, (the way these maps are designed are ing incredible, Q3 maps have nothing on them) they can lock down all the parts of the map with the powerful weapons and powerups, which means the other clan will have to congregate in an area with weapons like the ripper and goo gun, once the've all got these guns they can try and take over another part of the map which has been locked down by going on a spamming spree. these weapons don't take skill, they're all based on luck (which is why noobs use them, a noob with the ripper or goo gun can kill the best player in Australia if luck and chance is on his side) and if luck is on teh side of the team that's being dominated they can take back control
and these are only the basic strategies ;) will have to upload that demo, been procrastinating a bit
i love work when i don't have to do anything :p |
