I dunno.. I never went to their meetings or anything.. so I can't really comment on it being good or .. just not my cup of tea :)
you might've liked 3xtreme lan though.. that was a lan (byo pc... varies from like 100 players up to like 300+) held at monash eng halls on uni holidays (there's one coming up on the kryal weekened me thinks... dec 10/11) if you're interested... from what I'm told, expanding early in the game is more of a detriment to your civ than anything else. Meier wanted to take away the whole 'rush to colonize at any cost' from the game and thus implemented the whole new city support system which simultaneously solved the previous corruption problems in earlier editions. |
yeah, but im only comparing it to what the other civs do. im always well under the number of cities they are. and eventually, someone gets annoyed with me not giving away maybe the 1-2 techs no one else has, then just invades me with 5x the amount of troops (normally more advanced!) and proceeds to teach me all about anal sex in a not-so-gentle fashion.
shall check out the forums for sure. cant believe what a steep curve it has coming from #2.
fvcking awesome game tho!
lol @ philby. yeah, i hate the lugging around. thats why you hold it at your house and get people to come to you! :D ill never transport the PC for LANing ever again. fvck that.
haha. tell me more about the svga club. hahaha. |

If that's the problem, then try the religion or culture shock route.
Focus on converting that guy to your own religion which you founded early in the game, or concentrate on building cultural improvements. If you don't have many cities this should be fairly easy to do, and as long as they aren't razing your cities to the ground, then you should gain them back by having your own citizens overthrowing their oppressors.
And yeah, I can't imagine making the jump from civ2-4...Culture completely changed the face of the game in #3. |
