Hiya I'am soon going to be reinstalling my c drive and was wondering weather it's possible to move the dll for atmosphere vst ( Installed on the c drive under cubase vsts )to the d drive and then simply move it back after without having to reinstall any of the huge dat file which currently on the d drive?

Hope this makes sense

yeah i know whatcha mean...but i think that if you have the legal version (not the pirated), you have to do some reinstalling as per the installation instructions.

its not on me now, but if you look in the manual it tells you exactly how to do it. basically you need to retell the vst/dll where the dat file is once its moved.

just try it, if it doesn't work, then you know you'll have to reinstall the thing....

And I believe you can do it, when you load the dll file again it will just ask you where you have put your dat files, just point to the location (of course, if your dat files are on the c drive you have to move them to another drive while you're formatting the hard drive as well :p )

I would just reinstall atmosphere as well, saves a lot of hard effort.

i think atmosphere has some entries in your windows registry as well, so if you install a new windows atmosphere wont work anymore.

Not sure though

But I am and you're right :)
There is a tool which is able to move your data files and keeping atmosphere working at the same time. But this is of no use when planning a new installation.

It is possible to backup the sample database to another disk and copy it back to the smoe folder later on. But you'll need to run the installation setup to install the dll correctly. The data file install can be skipped this way if I'm correct. I'm not sure though.

There is an easy way to do it.

Simple Solution: Move the dat file to somewhere (like your desktop) for the time being. Set it to read-only too while your at it.

Uninstall Atmosphere. (Since your dat file is on your desktop it should be safe)

Now put in your first atmosphere cd.

Pick where you would like to install atmophere, and then when you get to the stage where it asks you where you would like to save the data file, figure out where you would like to have it, then move the data file to that spot (leave it read-only) and then click continue with the data "joiner" installer..

Since it cant write to the file, (because you set it to read-only) the installer will error out. You can then close it and think about how much time I saved you!

All the best,
