CD's vs VINYL (Split Thread)

before i begin, let me set you straight. i don't play cd's exclusively. if anything, i am mostly a vinyl dj. that was a one-time deal at dooms because i wanted to party and i didn't want to lug my vinyls around. i don't have in-and-out access out of the building and i don't trust the coat-check.

i do strongly believe that this is simply just your own personal opinion. in other words, its not factual. music is subjective and just because you think those guys are boring doesn't make it a true statement for the next guy.

well then educated one, why don't you start by explaining how anyone is going to hear SOUND QUALITY in a room where the bass spins are booming and echoing all across the room drowning out a lot of the detail of the music? lets not forget what kind of equipment the promoters decided to use also figures into the SQ of the music. nobody is paying attention because they are all busy dancing their butts off. but if you know anything, please do tell! :)

Well sounds like bunk party to me if you don't as a performer have in and out access.

Also, most of the people who are at these parties in vancouver are not there for the music at all. They are there to simply be wasted on E. That's the vancouver scene at the moment, and that's sad.
That's what this thread was really supposed to be about. But you as a digital "dj" are contributing to the disposible mentality of the culture itself with your attitude that "no one can tell". Truth is people can tell but they settle for it instead of speaking up and calling bull on the promoters who slap together rental packages from companies that do rock concerts, not raves. And don't tell me masterplan productions has any ing clue as to what they are doing because they simply don't. I don't know if masterplan was involved at doomsnight but I do know who the promoters were and they are NOT in it for the right reasons.

Vinyl all the way. Nothing else! and guess what, I've got no other reason for saying such things as it's MY OWN PERSONAL PREFERENCE!

I don't really care that DJ's are going to digital technology. Do you really think that the turntable will become obsolete? No. Never. Cause if it will, it woulda happened by now. Sure, I feel this strong connection with teh DJ when I see them playing vinyls, because now I know that the DJ isn't one of those "everybody and their grandmother can DJ" DJ's. Cause let's be honest here. That's the way this industry is heading. And I partly believe (as Lithium said)that that's the reason why there is ALOT of out there. Because everybody and their grandmothers can do it.

Digital Tech = Lack of passion = e music
Vinyl = Passion = Hardingcore

again. My personal opinion

Thank you.
It's good to know there are some people out there who know the drill as to what is what.

i was a late addition to the lineup card therefore i don't have a personalized performer pass. the party itself was excellent. maybe you should get your stories right before passing judgement.

again, you have yet to explain yourself. maybe instead of removing my credibility on this subject about sound quality, why not englighten us on how vinyl is going to sound THAT MUCH BETTER in a hall like that?

and to keep things clear, i didn't say i thought masterplan knows what they are doing. i said whatever they put up for the party has a DIRECT effect on how EVERYTHING sounds. thats as far as my statement went. please use a little more effort into reading what i'm saying to you because i hate to repeat myself. thanks.

2-3 tracks per vinyl? come on. you know you buy it for one good track, and maybe there might be another one that you would play in the private of your own home. where the hell are YOU shopping?
