christ.
Phu and who? Where was this?
And how about digital still ing sucks because it boring as hell to watch not to mention listen to?? |
me and phu at dooms night @ the coliseum. ferry/armin/pvd/bt/above and beyond have all chosen to use mainly cd's. same as LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS of dj's across the globe. so whats your beef with cd's?
boring as hell to watch? sorry, when i go party, i don't watch the dj. i went there to hear good music and to dance.
also, tell me you can hear a difference between cd/mp3 and vinyl because i'm an audiophile and i can honestly tell you that when you're in a party, you don't hear it. end of story. |

Sorry, I wasn't at doomsnight, I was in calgary playing.
The people you listed are the prime example of what's boring right now and geee, they play CDs!
LAMO.
If your are an audiophile Mark and you play CDs as a DJ that pretty much tells me you don't have any idea what you are really listening for between the two.
Sorry if you don't agree with that, but that's just reality.
Don't take offense to it, I just don't buy into the bull technology companies that push "DJ" products that are in the digital realm and are endorsed by "djs" translates into good for the music, the producers, the publishers, the party go-ers, the promoters and the DJs when the more digital gets accepted into the environment it seems the more "smelly" it becomes.
Digital DJs are ing LAME, I don't care who they are. Superstar or not. That includes you if you play CDs, laptops or otherwise. It's ing suicidal. |

before i begin, let me set you straight. i don't play cd's exclusively. if anything, i am mostly a vinyl dj. that was a one-time deal at dooms because i wanted to party and i didn't want to lug my vinyls around. i don't have in-and-out access out of the building and i don't trust the coat-check.

i do strongly believe that this is simply just your own personal opinion. in other words, its not factual. music is subjective and just because you think those guys are boring doesn't make it a true statement for the next guy.

well then educated one, why don't you start by explaining how anyone is going to hear SOUND QUALITY in a room where the bass spins are booming and echoing all across the room drowning out a lot of the detail of the music? lets not forget what kind of equipment the promoters decided to use also figures into the SQ of the music. nobody is paying attention because they are all busy dancing their butts off. but if you know anything, please do tell! :) |

That's pure evil. |
Digi will continute to take over... theres no denying it. Like Mark said, its much easier to deal with. Its much more precise, much easier to play than vinyl (Yeah, I said it!!)less wieght to lug around, less cash to spend, and most importantly, easiest to distribute.
I cant wait to get CD'js, but at the same time I will still be in my favorite local record shop every week with a wad of cash in my hand (cashflow pending :D) to buy new vinyl releases becuase I will not be contaminated by the 'battle of the mediums' Some tunes you just need on vinyl, nuff said. |

Vinyl all the way. Nothing else! and guess what, I've got no other reason for saying such things as it's MY OWN PERSONAL PREFERENCE!
I don't really care that DJ's are going to digital technology. Do you really think that the turntable will become obsolete? No. Never. Cause if it will, it woulda happened by now. Sure, I feel this strong connection with teh DJ when I see them playing vinyls, because now I know that the DJ isn't one of those "everybody and their grandmother can DJ" DJ's. Cause let's be honest here. That's the way this industry is heading. And I partly believe (as Lithium said)that that's the reason why there is ALOT of out there. Because everybody and their grandmothers can do it.
Digital Tech = Lack of passion = e music
Vinyl = Passion = Hardingcore
again. My personal opinion |
