I'm going to Uni next year. I've applied to the following unis, as I chose the cities based on nightlife more than anything else. Most the unis I applied to are shìt cos I did crap in my AS levels, but the cities are:
Sheffield
Nottingham
Leeds
Manchester
Liverpool
So far, I've had an offer from Sheffield and Liverpool. What I wanted to know is, which of these cities has all night clubs (as in open beyond 4am ish). Newcastle's nightlife in my opinion is brilliant, but it's major flaw is that Newcastle council suck c0ck and all but two clubs are open until 2am (Shindig until 3am and Legends on a Sat till 4am).
Some people will disagree, but personally I hate nights ending at 2am. It's usually just getting good! I've heard Cream is oen until 4am, and I presume Manchester must have some all nighters cos it's massive.
Can anyone fill me in on the nightlife of these cities?
Thanks. |

Yeah UK councils suck. Though I wouldn't base your uni decision on that alone, because it looks like the law is due for a bit of a shakeup over this in the near future.
Our of that lot, Sheffield is definetly your best bet clubbing-wise coz of Gatecrasher, which is open to a more than reasonable hour :) |

Thats the spirit, im chosing unis based on proximity to big clubs ie, sheffield, birmingham etc. i too expect to do pretty in my A levels from my half arsed effort in the ducation department, only im goin one step further and having a year out jsut getting a job and having the freedom to go mental on weekends! :) |

When is Gatecrasher open until, and does it beat Cream etc?
About this proposed shake up" of the law. I do remember they mentioned before the election about possibly making all pubs and clubs be open 24 hr if they want to.
It makes sense. Most fights start in Newcastle when everyone is booted out the pubs at 11 and the clubs at 2. Everyone fights over a taxi, it happens every week. It's approaching 11, everyone's rushing down their drinks getting absolutely twatted, they go outside and fight for a taxi. With pubs open as long as they want, people all leave at different times. That makes it better for us - the boozers, it gives more freedom to the pubs and clubs, and it makes the police's job easier.
The 11pm pub law was put in place during World War Two to stop people getting hammered and then making bombs with a hangover etc. Also, they didn't want people roaming the streets during the blitz.
But hey, times have changed!
Does anyone know if they really ARE doing anything soon about the open times of pubs/clubs, or is it just rumours again?
PS, I wanted to move away for uni anyway. I love Newcastle, but I wanna move away from my family. |

:stongue:
dont we all! :D
i hope that 24 hour rule comes into play coz we got abuse hurled at us a few times at sugar shack when everyone is clambering for a taxi :whip: :whip: :whip:
as for crasher it was open til 6 when i went, but is it usually 4 like GK or is it always 6? :) |
