Coming from Canada eh!

G'day mates, lol, I love it :p

I'm living in Vancouver, Canada right now, and I used to live in Whistler for years, which I'm sure most aussies know where that is. But I'm in the process of getting my work visa for Aussieland and I'm really interested in playing in the clubs and parties down there!

So I was wondering if anyone here can help point me in the right direction as to who I might want to contact about sending my demos in and getting some regular gigs while I'm down there. I've worked for many production companies throughout Canada but really want to get involved while I'm there. Ideally, I'd love to get sponsored somehow ;)

I think I'll be spending a majority of my time in Sydney, as that's where most of my friends hail from, but I heard the party scene in Melbourne is where the good is at. I'll be spending lots of time in Brisbane as well.

So again, hoping to get in touch with some peeps down there ahead of time so I know what I'm getting myself into. In the meantime, feel free to click my sig and have a listen to some mixes I put up on a weekly basis :D

Can't friggin' wait to get there!!!! :D:D:D:D:D:D

Hey hey,

Melb is better than Sydney, just run in, grab your opera house and mirror vest photos, then come down this way. Shoot me a PM when you get here and we can catch up for a beer, I'm from Toronto originally but have been here nearly four years, came here to study and, well, am still here. :D

as far as gigs go, i'd venture to say that unless you're grandmaster flash, you're going to need more than a demo CD to get a gig no matter how good it is - there are heaps of really talented local DJs here who's been doing it for a while, so if you'd like to 'break in' you'll either want to have some original productions under your belt, or will need to spend a bit of time getting into one or more of the local crew - which isn't too hard. they'll all make fun of your accent and ask if you're american repeatedly and stuff, but you get used to it. ;)
