In a long line of our favorite duos— Gabriel & Dresden, The Chemical Brothers, Liver & Onions (ok maybe not that last one)— comes Chus & Ceballos, two house heads out of Spain. DJ Chus and Pablo Ceballos are proud of their heritage, “We are establishing the Iberian sound.” It's nice to see an Iberian duo with the vision and dream of Don Quixote, and the practical guiding spirit of Sancho Panza, without the fruitless wandering. Catch them as their epic continues to reward on Wednesday, November 23rd at Bleu in Detroit and at Bang! in Miami on November 26th.
These men of La Mancha have bypassed their fighting windmills stage and moved straight into soulful tracks like “Wrong About Me” featuring the vocals of Derrick Conter. They produce and release albums for not only themselves but also David Penn, Pete Tha Zouk and Oscar de Rivera. Hey, they're people-people! Their company, Stereo Productions, handles DJ representation, studio sessions, label work, and publishing for a myriad of European artists and was nominated for Best House Label in 2005 by Spanish magazine Deejay Mags.
In fact this was one of seven nominations the duo received in 2005 from Deejay Mags. They include Best DJ of the Year and Best House DJ for DJ Chus, Best House Production for Chus & Ceballos's “Low Frequencies,” and Best Remix for their reworking of Deep Dish's “Say Hello.” Don't say they never give back to their DJ community either because Best Compilation nomination, Madrid Underground! Vol. 2, is a 12 unmixed track vinyl made available special for DJs. They also remixed Madonna's new single “Hung Up.” Caliente! Whether they work in the underground or in new dance mega-pop Chus & Ceballos move that body. Don't get moded; check them out this November at Bleu and Bang! |

C&C brought it nice and hard to Bleu - just as I had hoped. :) For the big bar nigt of the year, the crowd wasn't that huge but they were dancing their asses off to C&C.
Cannot wait to see them at BOA for NYE in Toronto!
