Mixing with one Monitor

| I'm either going to get some Event's or A Mackie Hr824, but I don't know if it is possible to get good mixes using only one monitor, because I'm not trying to spend $1,400 on 2 Hr824's. |

Because people buy 3 or 5 of them, for sorround purposes. And if they ware in pair only, why would you get 6 monitors if you only needed 5 monitors and a sub for 5.1 sorround?.. It's cheaper that way. |

well unless ure mixing mono....no there is no way to mixdown with one monitor
as for the person above who said 'no problem'
how would you mix something thats panned hard/medium left if you're using only one monitor and suposedly listening to the right side? |

of course it is better to have two, but if you have only one, then you can make a better judgement of the way your track will sound on radio, a crappy boombox or a pa system in a club, since a lot of those are mono too. this way you can only overuse stereo fx :)
we all forget it would be really useful to check our mixes in mono. but anyway, you will need two real soon. |
