Labour of Love review

Pete K
The Guvernment/Labour of Love met, and passed BY FAR, all of my expectations. Yeah, way too many people.. over priced drinks... hot beyond belief.. but it honestly didn't bother me. I was expecting something totally different.. more of the 'raverish' crowd. But not at all, mostly clubbers. I fell in love with Toronto this weekend, I really did. Things are a whole lot different there.. and we consider it a downfall.. but it's just their way of life. It's not bad, we're just not use to their ways. I really did feel like someone dropped us into a different world. The shopping, the nightlife, the diversity, the food, their everyday life, just the whole experience was unforgettable.

It's so clean [compared to any other city of that size I've been to] .. sooo safe, and the weather was to die for this weekend.

We got to Labour super early....thanks to John Tang for the line pass... which was nice because we got to check out all the different rooms w/o the stampede running our asses over. Standing directly behind Digweed, so close we could have stuck a straw in his beer and drank it, was amazing. Watching him mix.. and watching the crowd's response was something I've never seen before. Ali from Deep Dish came on right after Diggers and took it to the next level, unfortunately we missed Sharams set. Finally, we pushed our way into the Koolhaus to catch the end of Blank & Jones set.. Armin's set was something serious lol.. I was completely speechless. With our 13 hour drive ahead of us after we were checking out of the hotel at noon.. we had to cut the night short.. as we were leaving around 5:30ish am.. Armin dropped Rachael Starr-Til There Was You. can't even describe the feelings I had. . IT WAS AMAZING. I missed the set's I was mainly coming to hear, but considering the amount of people... we did pretty good.

Compared to Space, Crobar, Eleven50... any other club I've ever been to.. The Guvernment takes the gold (in my book atleast).

Pics coming soon...

^^^^ I checked out this room 'cause I knew you'd have a thread going.

It was great to meet you. I'm happy you enjoyed TDot and the party. You'll have to come again! Guv is holding a two day party in celebration of it's 9th anaversery this October... I know Carl Cox is going to be there on the 8th but I'm not sure who else, however, it will likely put LOL to shame! Stay tuned to the TOTA events thread for details.

Okay, I found the line up for the Guv 9 year party (at least what's confirmed so far)

Saturday October 8/05
Infected Mushroom
MArk Oliver

Sunday October 9/05
Carl Cox
Richie Hawtin
Loco Dice
Ferry Corsten
Timo Maas
Lee Burridge
Uberzone
Splitloop
K Swing
John Acouaviva

For those that don't know.... Mark Oliver is the resident at Guv... he single handidly built that club and quite honestly should be doing much more then he is.... the man should be touring the world, he's good enough to headline anywhere!

The sunday line up is just sick!
