I have one desktop PC with SB Live platinum.
One mixer (Pioneer-DJM300).
A laptop with SB Audigy 2 NX external sound enviroment.

The mixer is connected to my PC . On the laptop I have installed Ableton Live 5. I would like to connect my laptop to mixer to be able to pre-listen/cue the music. Please is there a way to do this?

If some specification about the sound cards is needed just tell me.

Thanx a lot for help!

yes off course there is!

well your's is a two channel mixer you already have one input for your pc right!

well you need a 1/4 inch jack to a RCA left/right plugs. plug the 1/4 inch jack into the line out of your external enviroment sound card.

put the rca's into you mixer, for example line 1. then you can PFL to the ableton's signal.

i think this is what you mean?

wouldn't it just be the same way you set up your mixer up with your pc?

you might have to do some specificatons but that might have to wait and see.

And can I pre-listen to the tracks in the Ableton with this setup?
BTW how you set-up the ableton to be able to pre-listen the tracks? Can it be done with Sound Blaster card?

Anyway, I will give it a try tomorrow (actually I dont have the ext sd card yet, its ordered and I will have it tomorrow).
Thanx a lot for the help!

yes that should work! you dont need to use ableton to pre fade. just use like you normaly would with a signal coming out. to prefade listen you only use your mixer to prefade listen.

so when your mixer volume is down you can still hear abelton playing what it is doing.

because you are not using turntables, only use the LINE 1 AND 2 INPUTS. (SWITCH TO LINE)

this set up is dead simple so good luck if you need any help.
you dont need any settings in ableton just play it like you would with a signal coming from the program

Greetings,

Im using Ableton 4 with a SB Audigy 2 Platinum and its very flexible with outputs.

First need to go to Options->Preferences->Audio and use the ASIO driver then select Output Config and enable the individual outputs for Front L/R, Rear L/R and then Center/LFE(you can see which 3/4, 5/6, 7/8 are assigned to in the very bottom left when you hover over it). Then can back out and assign individual Audio track output to Ext and then the Front L/R or Rear L/R or Center/LFE etc. Then for cueing on the right can set Cue to the 3rd output. Very flexible, finally just need all those 1/4 plug to stereo RCA to hook up to mixer.

Good luck

This sounds interesting. The only bad thing is that I´ve checked the creative labs website and I´ve found that Audigy NX is the only one which dont support ASIO. :whip: :whip: :whip:

Arent there some special drivers that can enable the asio support?
I´ve heard that www.asio4all.com should work with some cards. I will check that out.

Thanx a lot for the help guys!
