here's something that spooked me out a couple weeks ago... i noticed an owl on my deck, went outside to have a better look at it thinking it would take off. i went right up to it, and wondered 'what the is wrong with this owl, isnt it scared of people...' so i basically spent my afternoon having some beers with an owl heh...then my neighbor came and told me that it was his owl (the owl had fell out of it's nest when it was a baby, it was the neglected one, so he raised it, thats why hes so domesticated, hes only four months old)
you can go right up to the owl and pet him, he likes it best behind the ears. if its someone he doesnt recognize he s off, hes really tame, wont bite you either, he'll just naw. the owl seems stay within my neighbor's yard and mine which is pretty cool, sometimes he'll run around the yard which is en hilarious... neighbor has even got an otter that his friend had for a while... it looks like a ed up wiener dog...
