Shambhala Review

Here is a taste:

We headed over to the main stage which was a very open grassy oval surrounded by a wooden fence. They had hung a giant plane and the main feature was the display by the laser tower. The giant trees looked like they were dancing to the heavy base.Dave and I found some space and played with the poi for a while. We attracted many admirers who requested light shows. We both agreed how nice it was to be appreciated.

Next we made our way to the Fractal Forest which quickly became one of my favorite stages. As we bounced down the path, Dave was in charge of guarding me from the mud puddles. We were mesmerized by all the different light patterns in the forest path leading us to the stage. We spent about 10 minutes trying to figure out the checkered path which would cast funny shadows on all the people who walked by it.

As we entered the circular type dance floor, we were immediately hooked by the fanastical lightshow and visual projections. The ground was still a bit muddy and spongey so we made our way on to one of the many elevated stages. There was even a giant silver spaceship with people bopping around on top.

Dave let me borrow his light poi and I found my way onto a giant tree stump podium. I tuned out of the crowd below and into the DJ and found my rhythm. I danced around for an hour putting on one of the best shows in my life. I was so lost in the moment that I forgot about everything around me except for the lights and the music. I didn’t even realize how much of a workout I got until Dave brought me some water.

Next we decided to make our way to the Ewok Village but we didn’t really like the music so we carried on. We found ourselves back at the black light area of the forest where we ended up staying for the next few hours. I couldn’t get enough of my outfit which made me look like a frilly little doll. I played poi for people which made me especially interesting and I became the mascot of the exhibit.

In the beginning of the night, I had stuffed my backpack full of little toys to give to all the new friends I would make. Everytime I would meet a new friend, I would reach into the bag and give them a little toy. Like I said, its fun to have party pets. I really felt like Alice in Wonderland crossed with the Wizard of Oz.

I thought it was quite a descriptive piece of writing...entertaining during a work day. Read a bit of your travellog and was suprised to find you are a bit more seasoned than one would guess. :D
