very true
van offers a nice intimate setting, even at raves. but i bet those parties still cant beat twisted 2001 party at the plaza where the dj booth was jacked up to the ceiling and you couldnt see heh

Ok, that's the complete lineup. Now for a little insider's info.
The guvernment is a massive venue with many rooms taking up a full city block down near the lakeshore. It's total capacity is something like 6000-7000 people, but for this night it'll probably be oversold, like all big nights at the guv. The club opens at 10pm, and for this event it'll probably be open till around 8:30-9am, unless the rumoured DJ demi [or even digweed???] sunrise set on the skybar is actually true, in which case, who knows how long it'll go. Personally, I think they'll break out a sunrise set, as back in may, sasha and lawler went back to back on the skybar until 10am when the cops came to shut it down, and both sasha and lawler agreed it was one of their best gigs of the year, and weren't planning on stopping anytime close to the 10am scheduelled stop time. Drinks are very pricey, water is $5, and the bathrooms will be filthy at around midnight, when the styairwell pidgeons decide it's time to do some lines off the toilet bowls. For the sake of crowd traffic most likely, the flow between the ground room floors will be restricted to one way only, meaning to get from the kool haus to the guvernment you'll probably have to go thru all the groundroom floors, so decide where you wat to go and when before you get there. Check the TOTA event board for set times when they're released. Ground room floors are as follows:

'The guvernment' is the mainroom, capacity of about 1500. It's the room with the 'phazon' soundsystem, which was best in the city till boa-redux came around last year. Digweed we all know about, he was in toronto recently at system soundbar, and right now he's playing some good electro, like sasha, lawler, and virtually everyone else out there. Deep Dish are ALWAYS at this party, and will most likely close down the mainroom, and when deep dish plays toronto, they always bring the good stuff. None of this 'sleep dish' everyone refers to. Hell, toronto was one of their first supporters way back in the day, and they haven't forgotten that. Demi is a british DJ who held a residency at boa last year [hopefully he'll re-sign and do it again], and plays what I'd call deep dish meets lawler style music. He's got a large following here and no doubt for his first labour of love he'll steal that room.

'kool haus': Biggest room in the guv, probably a capacity of 2000-2500. You guys know trance, I'm not gonna lecture you on what's going on in that room. Sound system is sometimes a gamble, as the room isn't used regularly, but I doubt the guv will take chances on their biggest party night of the year.

'the orange room': right inbetween the kool haus and the guv. Capacity of probably something like 500-700, and it'll be the breaks room. Toronto also has a very strong breaks scene right now, in fact, I'm not a huge fan of breaks but if it's possible, I wanna see some of evil 9 at least. I'd highly recommend setting foot in this room at least once to get the feel of what will probably be the best vibing room in the building.

'acid lounge': small room just at the back of the guv mainroom which leads nowhere. DJ mini is a montreal local who's really good. I'd like to see him as well, but the night will be very busy. I'd estimate the capacity of this room at 100-150.

The outdoor tent I believe will be a makeshift tent in the employee's parking lot right at the entrance, I've never in all my years of attending this party spent any appreciable time there.

Upstairs linked from the guv mainroom is 'the drink'
where jungle and drum and bass will be played. Andy C always plays this party as well, and he knows how to throw down a good one. High contrast is making his second appearance at this party, and if you don't know about toronto's drum and bass scene it was second only to london in the mid-late-90's, so the vibe in this room is always off the hook as well. The locals on the bill are all VERY quality, and if you have any interest in drum and bass, you should def check that room out as well. I will, and I can only 'tolerate' d n' b. The capacity for the drink is something like 200-300.

Above the drink is the skybar, a rooftop patio with a capacity of 450. Addy and Deko-ze are two wicked locals who are residents at the infamous 'comfort zone' where the dirtiest, filthiest house music is played sunday afternoons. If I don't make it out to see them on the skybar, I'll probably drop by the zone myself to 'go to church' as we here call it, by entering the zone.

Other Info:
From what I hear, Nat [tatgirl] is throwing a bbq for all the TAs going to LoL, as she always does [or so I'm told] and it's always a good way to meet TAs from around the world, as this party brings in people from as far away as israel, or south america. Hell I met some aussies last time I was there, so if you have the oppertunity, check that out as well.
Check out the TOTA board for info on places to stay/eat/see/go on the weekend before the party if you are interested as well, I'm sure the city will provide a number of great parties that weekend.
Be aware that the guv will be RAMMED, and you should be expecting to be bumped a bit, and have to put up with some pushy people, or otherwise bad apples. If it's your first time at the guv, you probably won't notice or even care, as you'll be taking in too much of the enormity of the party to notice, but to us 'seasoned and jaded' guv vets, it can get to be a bit much.

Anyway, if you've got any more questions, ask on TOTA, or PM e2ek1el, or dEsidEl, and I'm sure they'll help you out. Hope to see some of you there.

whoa sly_guy, thanks for all the info, i been trying to get bits and pieces from bunch of TOTAs in the last few days. this is by far the most information i got out of anyone tho heh

we've got our fair share of jerk ravers in van too, so it wont be so bad i guess. the one thing im a bit concerned with is getting around, looks like its going to be a bit tough. i mostly want to check out the trance, prog and dnb rooms. breaks are always fun too, especially if atomic hooligan are involved :)

i cannot express my excitement. i am really looking forward to this trip. hopefully i'll be able to recover in half a day when i return and be ready for school on tuesday
